But here I am seeling it for $49.
There is no hidden cost. The license is not something that has to be renewed. Its unlimited forever pack. Single installation file and nothing too circuitous about installation.

Full Time Writer Required

Full Time Writer Required
Hi guys,

I have an urgent need for a full time, NATIVE ENGLISH SPEAKING article writer and re-writer. I do not want to keep having to post new projects everytime something comes up, I want someone i can give work to dailly and rely on them to get work completed on time and to a high quality
Work can be provided INSTANTLY!
You will need to be very flexible, you may have to write one article one day and then 10 the next day. You will have to re-write articles in bulk occasionally. But trust me when I say, there will be a LOT of work.
You must be able to research niches you are unfamiliar with, as articles will be on a wide range of topics.

You MUST be willing to work for different payment rates depending on the project needing completion, for example, $2 per article and then $1 per article, on occasion. I do not take on stupid projects like $0.90 per 100 words – they will be solid jobs with payment at the end. If work is completed to a high standard constantly, a BONUS may be paid.

The only jobs you will have to do are article re-writing and article writing.

In your bid, please attach samples of previous articles you have done, this is very important, as if you don’t then your bid will not be taken into consideration.

You must be able to communicate with me daily aswell, via email and MSN/GTALK/SKYPE.

Feedback is required to bid.

Please make sure you have read this project by writing ‘Scott Law’ at the top of your bid/PM.

I look forward to working with the succesful candidate, I can provide you with an unlimited supplyof work.

Thank You

Pajezy Private Label Program

Pajezy Private Label Program
I own pajezy and need a good php / mysql programmer to complete a private label program for me.

Your job will be mostly editing existing php pages to enable a private label to be called into the themes (templates) used by the editor.

Most will use {{smarty}} tags for calls. I have taken the project as far as I am able and need someone more expert than I to fully integrate everything.

C# – Design/print Plastic Card

C# – Design/print Plastic Card
Development of a WYSIWYG software that allow user to design and print both sides of a pvc

(plastic) card, using card printer Fargo Persona c30e and the printer’s SDK.

Software must allow to place shapes, pictures, barcode, labels, background color or image,

read/record magnet stripe (using printer’s sdk).

Main purpose of software is to print a sequence of cards from a database (Access, Mysql, Oracle,

Sqlserver, Postgresql), or from csv file.
So the software must allow dynamic fields:
– dynamic Label, dynamic barcode and dynamic magnet stripe can be loaded from both CSV or

Database
– dynamic picture can be loaded from both a database or a directory of numbered image files.

Requirements:

– Development in C# using Windows Forms
– Provide source-code
– Ribbon UI, using DevXpress Xtrabars component
– Use Bytescout Barcode component
– Use Printer SDK (which I’ll provide)
– Provide a easy way for translating all the software messages, options and controls (the

software will be used in my own language so I’ll have to translate everything).

Detailed tasks that the software must accomplish or allow:

– have a control where the user designs the card, which means the user can add elements to this

control (pictures, labels, shapes, background color, magnet stripe, barcode…)
– The “Card control” mentioned above must look like a card: a white rectangle with black borders

and rounded corners
– design and print only front side, or only back side or both sides of the card
– change card orientation: Portrait or Landscape
– select card size/model: CR-79, CR-80, Custom size (in milimeters)
– Card control must allow user to add following elements:
-> pictures
-> dynamic pictures: which will be loaded from a database and/or a directory with numbered image

file names
-> labels
-> dynamic labels: which will be loaded from a database and/or csv file
-> barcodes
-> dynamic barcodes
-> magnet stripe (only in card back)
-> dynamic magnet stripe (only in card back)
-> rectangle shapes
-> circle shapes
-> ellipse shapes
-> square shapes
-> line shapes
-> card background (which may be a color or an image)
– dynamic fields must be able to be loaded from different columns of different tables. Must support: Access, Mysql, Oracle, SQLServer, PostgreSQL.
– database settings can be saved for each database so the user doesn’t have to type it everytime.
– change shape’s border color
– change shape’s fill color
– change transparency level for shape elements
– fill color can be set to transparent so you see what’s bellow the shape in the card
– easily resize elements (except the magnet stripe)
– easily move elements (except for magnet stripe)
– easily rotate elements (except for the magnet stripe)
– Horizontal and Vertical Rulers with mouse tracking, divided in centimeters (showing milimeters

small marks).
– copy & paste elements from/to both sides of card
– Undo/Redo (50 times) separatelly for both sides of the card
– send an element to back or bring it to front of other elements
– send an element from back side of card to it’s front and vice-versa.
– keep a beautiful visible list of every element placed in the card, where itens can be managed

as well (example: Barcode1: “918209”, Dynamic Barcode1, Text1: “hello”, Text2: “test string”,

Dynamic Picture1…)
– zoom card (in and out)
– show grid for helping user to design the card
– option for snap elements to grid
– show mouse position in statusbar (in centimeters)
– Menu options: new, open, save, configure printer, Print preview, Print, Print All (print all

cards of a dynamic sequence).
– “Configure printer” option must show a printer selection dialog which has the printer names

list, a configure button (which opens the windows default properties dialog for the selected

printer) and the number of copies.
– “Print” option can use the exact same window of “Configure Printer”, but it may have a “Print”

button instead of the “OK” button.
– Both “Configure printer” and “Print” options must allow to show only printers with specific

name (I’ll give you the list of names).
– check if printer has magnetic encoder installed before print a card that has magnetic stripe

element placed in it.
– Simple access control system with 2 levels: administrator and operator. Administrator can do everything. Operator can ONLY print a previous saved design.
– log every action (with datetime). Only administrator can see/clean logs.

Problems you may face and things you should avoid:

– avoid aliasing
– avoid flickering while moving elements
– if you place your elements in a rectangle make sure the rectangle is totally transparent.
– ruler’s mouse tracking may intercept windows mouse moving messages and take a lot of processing which will generate flickering (even if you use double buffering) or screw up ribbon interface
– using windows default printer properties dialog isn’t trivial for c#, so you may use win32 api for that, but it may cause problems for you to open the dialog (memory protection fault) or for you to save it’s settings

If you need any further detail or help let me know.

Wpmu Conversion Project

Wpmu Conversion Project
I’m looking for a developer who has experience setting up and customizing WordPress MU with BuddyPress. I’d like to get the platform set up and got properly running, will need the look and functionality customized a little and have data moved from one database into that newly set up WP MU database. Here’s the scoop:

I own a busy social networking site. It gets over 200,000 uniques a month and is entirely custom coded, including admin back end and forums. I would like to have WordPress MU with BuddyPress replace this custom script. You could use the design that the website currently uses or you can code a brand new theme for as long as it has a professional and elegant look and is entirely in tableless CSS (valid) with all proper SEO demands met.

Since this is an existing site, it has data in currently used database. I would need a programmer who’s able to check current database structure and find which table stores which data and then use a script to move this data into the correct WP MU table. That goes for all forums, blogs as well as members, as user data is also stored in the database.

There are also pictures which are were uploaded by users as their profile galleries and are stored locally on the server (they are very well organized). Those will need to be also renamed/moved so they work with WP MU.

And then I will need to get a redirecting script in place that would issue a 301 redirect to all existing URL and redirect traffic to new URLs as WP MY uses SEO friendly, non dynamic URL structure (a big plus). Current scripts use dynamic URLs which is not very good. I will need new WPMU installation to utilize SEO friendly permalink structure and because of that, it will be essential to have a script in place that would issue a 301 redirect to all old URL and point them to new ones.

Please contact me via PM for more information.

Best practices for WordPress coding

Best practices for WordPress coding

Think International

When coding a WordPress theme or plugin, you have to think about those that doesn’t speak English. Using the PHP language, two very useful functions are available for you to create a translatable theme or plugin:

The first is the function _e(), which prints on screen the desired text, translated into the user language:

_e("Text to translate", "textdomain");

The second is __() wich is basically the same than _e(), but returns the text:

function say_something() {
    return __("Text to translate", "textdomain");
}

By using those functions, you make your work translatable in any language, which is a very great thing for people that blog in another language than English.

Don’t reinvent the wheel: Use a framework

While many people thinks that a good developer is someone that can create quality code, they’re wrong: A good developer is a person who can write quality code, quickly. Being fast is a quality, because clients don’t want to wait, and time is money.

Being fast doesn’t mean writing crappy, untested code in order to get things done as soon as possible. Instead, being fast is all about not wasting time. In development, the most important waste of time someone can do is when you’re reinventing the wheel, i.e. recreating something instead of using the original.

Theme frameworks appeared in 2008. A theme framework is a WordPress theme which can be extended by a child theme. While there are many available frameworks, both free and premium, my favorite is definitely Thematic. You have to learn how Thematic works, which can take some time at first, but once done, you’ll be surprised by how fast you can create robust and optimized themes.

And for those who think that a framework doesn’t allow enough modifications to create any type of layout, you’re wrong: This site and CatsWhoBlog are both using Thematic.

Speed up development using community tools and templates

As a WordPress developer, most client requests I got were similar: They wanted a custom theme or plugin. The process of creating files and fill it with the required info (Such as plugin name, url, etc) is very simple but time consuming.

For this reason, you should definitely make use of what the community created for you: Themes and plugins templates, as well as a really interesting plugin called WP Dummy Content, which can automatically generate a bunch of pages, sub-pages, posts, etc for you to test the look and feel of the theme you’re building.

Resources

  • The WordPress Starter Theme Project: A very useful set of files containing a blank style.css with theme name, author, URL, etc. tags at the top, a content-ready 404, archive, search, index, single post, and page files, a full, working comments.php file, a complete header.php set up with links to RSS, a stylesheet, and JS file and all you need to start developing a new WordPress theme.
  • WP Dummy Content: a WordPress plugin that will generate a bunch of pages, sub-pages and posts which you specify. Titles and content are automatically generated for you as well, and you have a few choices as to the type and length of content.

Debug your code efficiently

As a developer, debugging code is something that you should be used to. Although debugging is rarely a bunch of fun, WordPress has some useful functions that will definitely make your life easier.

The WP_DEBUG constant has to be placed in your wp-config.php file. If defined and set to true, error messages will be displayed.

define('WP_DEBUG', true);

If you’d like to modify WordPress built-in Javascript, you can enable debugging by defining the SCRIPT_DEBUG constant.

define('SCRIPT_DEBUG', true);

Additional resources

  • WordPress debug techniques: An interesting guide for those who don’t want to spend hours debugging their code.
  • Debug Theme, by Joost: The “Debug Theme” is a very special WordPress theme: instead of making your blog looking good, its purpose is to display useful information such as WordPress constants, security key-phrases, etc. A very handy tool when it comes to debugging!
  • Theme Tester plugin: If you need to modify or create a new theme on a production site, this is a must have: This plugin allows you to show the regular theme to your visitors while you’re working on a new one.

Make use of hooks, actions and filters

WordPress has very interesting an useful features called actions and filters. While those are intensively used by Theme frameworks and some plugins, most newcomer’s in WordPress development are ignoring them.

Actions and filters allow you to modify, overwrite or surcharge an existing WordPress function, without having to edit the core files. For that reason, you should always make sure that both the wp_head() and wp_footer() functions have been implemented in the theme you coded:

<?php wp_head(); ?&gt
    ....
<?php wp_footer(); ?&gt

Using hooks, you can for example add a favicon to your theme without editing the header.php file. The following example is what I use to add a favicon to a Thematic child theme.

function add_favicon() { ?>
    <link rel="shortcut icon" href="<?php echo bloginfo('stylesheet_directory') ?>/images/favicon.png"/>
<?php }
add_action('wp_head', 'add_favicon');

Code markup like a pro

A very important aspect of the quality of a WordPress theme is definitely how it is coded. In fact, I know many developers which are very good in PHP and other back-end technologies, but suck at front-end coding.
WordPress is XHTML valid and standard-compliant, so always make sure that your theme or plugin is as well before selling it to your client.

The idea of “pro front-end coding” is quite subjective, because not everyone has the same quality standards. However, any WordPress theme or plugin should be:

  • XHTML valid: Although their usefulness is often discussed, in clients eyes, respect of web standards makes the difference between a poorly skilled amateur and a professional web developer.
  • Semantically coded: When html tags are used semantically, this is not only the proper way to create a html document, it will also allow your client to get better search engine optimization results.
  • No inline styles or Javascript actions: In-line styles always seem extremely useful at first, but when you have to modify someone else’s work and it’s filled with in-line styles, it quickly become a nightmare. Same goes for javascript actions, such as onmouseover and so on. Always put them in a separate file.

To learn more about front-end coding best practices, you should definitely have a look to my recent “Top 10 best practices for front-end web developers” article.
