Quick Tip: Learning About HTML5 Local Storage

In today’s video quick tip, we’re going to build a working, though very basic, to-do list in just a minute or two. Thanks to HTML5’s local storage, we can make advanced browsers “remember” what we type, even after the browser is closed or is refreshed.

“localStorage sets fields on the domain. Even when you close the browser, reopen it, and go back to the site, it remembers all fields in localStorage.”

While obviously not supported across all browsers, we can expect this method to work, most notably, in Internet Explorer 8, Safari 4, and Firefox 3.5. Note that, to compensate for older browsers that won’t recognize local storage, you should first test to determine whether window.localStorage exists.

I have 2 outstanding errors on a site of mine that was created using php. One of the errors only shows in Firefox browsers and the other is a button that is not working.

The site is www.iprotest.us

Error #1: In Firefox, the search box is not lining up correctly with the header buttons. I would like it fixed to line up.

Error #2: When trying to register a new user, the register button does not do anything.

These should both be easy fixes and I would like to get them done asap.

I can send the entire batch of php files or we could talk online on AIM or yahoo and you could tell me what I need to change by looking at the source code.

I need to transfer a website from pur HTML with a Forum to
Wordpress.
( website is http://xbarcelona.com )

As new Theme i need “Unsaid Words” from Vivathemes (already installed).
qTranslate is also already installed, so you easily could transfer the multilanguage content.

You have to :

– transfer all the content to wordpress pages and posts
– Every book should be inserted as a post, i will extend the theme, so you got special fields to insert to infos
– You have to integrate the theme for the qtranslate language chooser
– You have to extend the theme with a new color set

Some portions of this work are already done.

At the second step the forum must be transfered.
I need to use the “Forum-Server” Plugin for WordPress as new Forum-System. If you think bbPress is better, so please tell me, but it must be seamless integrated.

You have to :
– create a template for Forum-Server (or bbPress) that looks original like “unsaid words”.
– transfer all users and forum-entrys to the new forum plugin. Currently installed is phorum.
