Introduction

PHP Simple Cache script lets you create cache for any PHP website quickly and easily.

PHP Simple Cache Features

Easy to integrate and configure with any website (just include a file).

Explanation

Include this script at the top of every page in your website that you want to be cached and that’s it. If not every page, you can also include this script in database file, configuration file or settings file of your project to cache whole website. Turn off cache for individual pages by passing a single variable to the page you do not want to be cached. If passing a variable or submitting a form, include another single script file to empty cache, so that dynamic functionality of website remains intact.

In short, cache all PHP website, but when performaing a dynamic action on any individual page, refresh cache to ensure site’s stable functionality and optimal performance at the same time.

Its a small PHP accelerator that substantially increases the speed of PHP website and improves the web page generation process by server. Basically it cahces a page that has been loaded once. Next time cached HTML version of PHP page loads instead of telling PHP server to translate the PHP code again. Similarly, in case of data coming from database server, it will cache that data and store it in cached file to display it later, instead of connecting to database again.

It enables dynamic PHP pages to load quickly and reduces server load by saving server translated page into cached files and serving that saved data on demand.

Bootstrap was used in this project for styling.

How to Use

Copy cache.php file and cache folder at root directory of your project. Open cache.php file in text editor, change settings for cache folder and cache time and include this file at top of every page of your website. Like below:

$mycache=”on”;
include(“cache.php”);

Or add above code in website’s main db file, configuration file or settings file. That’s it. The cache will work out of the box.

To delete cache or turn cache off for single page, please read implementation file or documentation. Its as simple as $mycache==’on’ or $mycache==’off’.

Plugin Information

Smart Posts Index adds new taxonomy called ‘Index’ (smart-index), and this taxonomy is added to selected post types for automatic assignment of index term to each post. Term is generated from post title and first letter is used, to get terms for letters and numbers: A, B, C, M, X, Z…

Changing post title, will trigger generating new term based on the changed name. All this is done automatically, on post publish action. You can also trigger re-indexing for all posts in selected post types. Plugin has function to generate indexer with list of terms linking to their archive pages. But, plugin also adds extra rewrite rules to implement archives for index terms for individual post types. Plugin can work with any theme, and plugin contains example templates for default WordPress themes.

Important

Plugin is easy to use, but there are some limitations and requirements that you need to be aware of:

• Plugin can work with any public post type. But, there are limitation caused by the way some post types are registered (no archives, or can’t be queried). With such post types, some of the plugin features will not work. Pages and Attachments are default post types that have such limitations.
• With use of widget and shortcodes implemented by the plugin, you can have all the features plugin has working. But, for full experience custom templates for theme are required. Example templates are provided with plugin.
• Theme templates customization requires some basic knowledge of PHP and WordPress development: creating new template for a theme, changing template content, understanding PHP functions.

Additional Support

Because of the nature of the plugin, some users might require extra help with it:

• Available on official website: tutorials with plugin setup, examples of template customization.
• Available in official support forums: ask for help with a theme, provide archive and page template from it, and I will create template for this plugin for that theme.

We all know this:
Your just writing a simple to script speed things up or to have a fancy GUI for some tasks. You want to have control over your stuff from everywhere you are. Often the problem is that you have to write a auth-system as well and this can get boring and need a bit of time. To do it once is ok, but what if you have to do this a second time or third? Often you cannot just copy the files, because the links would be broken or whatever…

The solution is a very simple but still customizable login class.
This script has one essential script login.php
All you have to do in order to protect your site is one line of code:

First of all include the file and create a new object from the class.
At this point in time the script is SINGLE USER ONLY! The first element in the array is the ‘correct’ password, the second one is the password entered by the user. The best way is probably to pass the $_POST data directly in the object/class. The 3trd element in the array is for advanced user and them who want to customize their login prompt.
preset will use the default prompt (see Live Preview).
You can point the script to a different login form by typing a URL in.
Make sure, that the form action e.g. ‘process.php’ has the object/class implemented.

In future versions their will be a multi user support, which is already partial implemented as you will see in the code. Since this class uses an array as input var the script will be fully compatible with future versions of the script.

Security:

The sessions are named with a semi-unique hash.
I won’ t tell you the hole way it’ s generated, but I can tell you that you can change the salt very easily:
$login->generateSalt('your_salt');

You can also change the default session name by calling the function changeSessionName():
$login->changeSessionName('yourname');
This function won’ t be available when multiuser is implemented and enabled!

To set a cookie is also implemented but not fully. To set a cookie call the function setCookie().
The class will ignore the cookie in this version of the script v1.0

If you want to be super fancy and don’ t wanna change the password on every site you use with this script you can create a file e.g. ‘login-ctrl.php’ and type the lines above in and include only this file.

To logout simple append ?logout to a url where the class is implemented or call the function logout()

The theme for the login form is based on Twitter Bootstrap and uses the Bootstrap CDN (bootstrapcdn.com) for serving the css.
