Photoshop in 60 Seconds: What Are Layer Styles?
Layer styles are a Photoshop feature that are sometimes seen as tired and/or amateurish. It’s true that the basic application of Bevel and Emboss and Drop Shadow has been overused and grown stale, but that doesn’t mean Layer Styles are ready to be retired. Check out this quick video on how to use an Envato Market item to create some vibrant and exciting effects with Layer Styles.
What Are Layer Styles?
Layer styles are an easy way to add non-destructive and quickly editable effects to any layer in Photoshop.
Simply double-clicking the space next to the layer thumbnail, in the Layer panel, will launch the Layer Style dialog box.
Each style can be enabled or disabled using the option boxes here along the left side. Then clicking on a layer style opens up the different options that the style contains.
