Community Project: Rhythm Track Results

We’ve just completed our first ever Audiotuts+ Community Project. Thanks to everyone who participated. While we weren’t absolutely overwhelmed with entries, we did receive some submissions that we’ll round up in this post. Read on for the details!

The Challenge

Being our first project, we started with something fairly general and easy to get involved with:

Create one or more rhythm tracks of at least 20 seconds in length. Upload them to your SoundCloud account no later than May 18th. If you like, describe how you created the track, and what software you used.

A Couple of Examples

In total, 34 people joined our Audiotuts+ Community Project group on SoundCloud, and we received six submissions.

Here are a few that caught my eye. Ah, ear.

A hip-hop instrumental.

A quick rhythm track created for the project.

A beat made with the “Poise” VST in REAPER for the project.

How Did We Go?

I hope you’ve enjoyed participating in the project and/or checking out the results. Feel free to leave constructive advice, questions and thoughts in the comments below.

Do you have any thoughts about how we can improve the next project?

  • Was SoundCloud an appropriate way to collect everyone’s submissions?
  • Were the procedures explained clearly enough?
  • Was the challenge too general?
  • Any other thoughts?

Please let us know in the comments below. Here’s to many more Audiotuts+ Community Projects!
