Freelancer Requirements:
1) Excellent English. I will be able to tell from your communications with me if it’s good enough; if your English sucks this project is not for you, sorry.
2) Timeliness and responsibility. Ability to produce quality results under short deadlines.
3) Communication availability. Must have instant messaging such as ICQ, AIM or Skype and be available for real-time communication during most of the day.
4) Positive and customer-centered attitude. Basically work with me on the project until I’m happy. “I’m happy only if you’re happy!” attitude.
Project Requirements:
General scope: Scrape (collect/compile) banner advertisements being run on MySpace social network.
Detailed requirements:
Advertisements on MySpace are mostly targetted according to user’s sex and age. The script will login into a user’s profile (for example user A will be female 25-35 and user B will be male 18-20) and will then start refreshing a certain page on MySpace to gather ads. There are two main ad formats to gather: 728×90 and 300×250.
Type of info about each ad collected:
1) Profile Type: sex and age <— this is determined by user login being used by the script
2) Date and Time Collected
3) Type: 728×90 or 300×250
4) Banner image
5) URL where the banner links
The script should be able to run on standard HostGator webhosting for unlimited period of time. There should be “Start” and “Stop” buttons.
Output: Output should be on a dynamic webpage where I could choose “user profile”, type of banner and date range and then the script would output the list of ads with all neccessary info for each ad.
For testing purposes I recommend you create a MySpace login or two.
