WordPress Mod
1. The first thing that I would like to do is make the carousel (the thing that is switching the pictures on the home page) to go slower. Everytime I try to set the speed within the theme it just doenst do anything. So we need it to be slower. I also would like to put a pause button on the carousel so that users can pause the flipping. I used the gazette theme from woothemes.com When you click on Gazette on the left hand side it will open up the controls for the Carousel. I need every image to go a little slower, its flipping too fast, plus i need a pause button so that users can pause the carousel. Right now I have deactivated the carousel to wait for the launch next week.
2. I also want to put a link at the bottom of every webpage that says Terms and Conditions. That should link out to a page that has our terms and conditions. and I would really prefer that that page be under the gazette theme and not in a seperate page, but I also don’t want it to appear at the top which is why i didnt place it into a seperate page.
3. I also want the latest posts to appear underneath the carousel as well as in the category pages. I want the four latest stories to post there and the video story at the bottom. So, it doesnt matter which story was posted last or what category it appears in, I want the latest 4 stories to appear underneath the caruousel
4. On the right hand side, I want the default setting to be expanded to show the latest posts. And I dont want it to be collapsed.
5. I also want a RSS feed button with the test “Click Here to Subscribe” somewhere near the top of the page or on the top right hand side. We also want to make sure that the RSS feed is working properly. We are using feedburner and need to make sure its working right.
6. On the posts, I want the facebook share button, the google buzz button, and the twitter button to be all in one line at the top of the post. I want it to go Facebook then Twitter then buzz. All in a straight line at the top of the posts. We also want to make sure that these buttons are functioning properly.
8. I want to implement a plugin or some sort of development that gives the look and feel of GQ’s slideshow animation posts. (See example post here: http://www.gq.com/style/wear-it-now/201002/spring-style-essentials-ties-watches#slide=1) but i don’t want this for every post. I just want it to be an option that we can choose. If you click on next, notice how the advertisements change- I think they are counting that as a new page count, but regardless, I want the advertisements to change when someone clicks next. I also want this to be mobile friendly and not look crazy when you are looking at it on your phone. Also notice that at the halfway point of the images there is a place for an advertisment, we want that too.
9. I want to have a quiz plugin or something that allows us to give a survey where we can ask questions and get feedback and also do quizzes and get answers on the spot. Some of the surveys we give we will want to get their name and contact info before they can submit.
11. We also want to insert google adwords banner or square ads to insert into the middle of the stories – note that this wont apply to the GQ style animation posts – we want an advertisement in that GQ post to be either google adwords or something that we upload – we would like the option for either. On the right hand side we are having trouble putting in the four advertisements that come with the gazette theme. We want those four advertisements and more. I want another big advertisement like the one at the top (i think its 300 by 250 or something like that) to appear right underneath the four little ad boxes.
12. On the side towards the bottom (on the right hand side) we want a donate button (underneath all the advertisements) and we want a donate button at the bottom of every post that allows people to donate money through paypal to us.
13. For comments at the bottom, we want to get people’s name and email information and have a check mark button that is already check marked to rss subscribe to the posts for the blog.
14. We need a gallery plug in that looks really nice to scroll through pictures. We will be having lots of pictures that we want people to look through – and we will need folders and arrange it a little like Facebook how they do their albums. The gallery should be called, “flashing lights”
