Late last year I mentioned a nice guide on the new visual effect classes added in the iOS 8 SDK including UIBlurEffect for creating blurs with different styling effects.
Here’s an open source component from Wei Wang that provides an easy to use customizable blurred overlay view called VVBlurPresentation.
VVBlurPResentation utilizes the iOS 8 SDK’s UIBlurEffectStyle and allows you to present your overlay view using the extra light, light, and dark styles of UIBlureffectStyle. VVBlurController can be used programatically or within storyboards using the present modally segue.
