Open Source Library Allowing You To Easily Apply An Animated/Tintable Blur To An Image

I’ve mentioned some nice libraries and components that are inspired by the blurring effects found within iOS 7  most recently a UIImage category allowing you to apply a blurring effect to a specified frame within an image.

Here’s a nice library from Aaron Ng called ANBlurredImageView that allows you to easily apply an animated blurring effect to images with a customizable colour.

ANBlurredIMageView subclasses UIImageView you can set up how quickly you would like the blurring/unblurring effect to take (making it great for transitions blurring the background) and you can apply a tint colour by providing a UIColor. There’s a handy callback method so you can execute some code once the blurring has completed.

Here are a few images based on the included example showing the blurring and tinted blurring effect:

You can find ANBlurredImageView on Github here.

You can read more about the image box blur algorithm used to generate the blur on the Indie Ambitions blog.

A nice easy way to create an animated blurring effect on an image.
