Previously I mentioned a nice library allowing you to create rectangular coach marks to guide a user through using your UI.
Here’s an open source component created in a similar vein called EMHintMaker from Eric McConkie.
EMHint allows you to add a spotlight highlighting important elements on the screen in order to guide the user. You can then present the user with a message providing a hint based on their selection.
By default plain white text is presented to provide the hint, but you can use any view or label that you like, and you can chain hints together.
