Open Source Template And Example Projects For The Tesseract OCR Library On iOS 7 With Xcode 5

I’ve mentioned a few projects help in utilizing the open source Tesseract OCR library, and have received a few messages lately from those having issues getting those projects to run on iOS 7 and Xcode 5.

For those who haven’t heard of Tesseract, Tesseract is an extremely powerful open source optical character recognition engine (originally created in the 80s!) that is at the heart of many online services, other OCR libraries, and apps and recent years has been extensively improved by Google.  Unfortunately it can be difficult to create a working iOS project that utilizes Tesseract.

Here’s a project from Daniele Galiotto that provides a template that you can use as a starting to points for your apps called Tesseract-OCR-iOS that is now compatible with iOS 7 and Xcode 5, and builds with ARM 64 support that you can find on Github here.

Rob Mathews has also created a fork of the OCR-iOS-Example project that works on iOS 7.0 with Xcode 5 that can be found on Github here.

And the main repository can be found on Google Code here.

Hopefully this helps those having issues with this project.
