We review a lot of games here at iPhone.AppStorm, and the ones that do the best — both financially and by popular vote — tend to be the ones that take advantage of the iPhone’s screen (think Angry Birds, Cut the Rope and similar games). Hungry Lizards fits into that category, and that’s one of the reasons we’re happy to have them as our weekly sponsor.
As the story goes, you’re a lizard — either Spike or Lizia, based on your decision at the beginning of the game — and you’ve been traveling the world because of the great bug famine of 2013. So you’re hungry. Real hungry. And you have to catch bugs in the air with your tongue.
It’s not easy.
This is a game about timing. You have to jump at a certain time because you’ll always travel the same arcs, but you also have to consider how fast the flies are flying and how far your tongue can reach. You get more points for more difficult to reach flies, and trust me, they’re not easy to get. This is a game that will test your skills.
You’ve got a few different playing modes to choose from. There’s multiplayer, real-time co-op and single player to choose from, and then you have 10 levels, 10 bosses and extra bonus rounds that you can unlock as well. Play with your pals via Bluetooth, Game Center or Facebook — pick your poison. Oh, and it’s a universal app as well, so you can play it on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.
But the best part about this game? The developers promise no in-app purchases — ever. Now that’s impressive.
