In this tutorial we will take a look at creating the first part of the preview video. The effect in the end of the video can be found here.
First we’ll track our shot. Then we’ll add a fake mirror even though it’s actually not a mirror at all… We’ll add some extra layers to make the mirror as believable as possible. In the end we add a hand which we’ve shot on green screen. We use this as a displacement map to displace the background creating this illusion that the hand is made of water. We will time the hand in front of the camera perfectly with the reflection to enhance the illusion of ‘waterman’ looking in the mirror and exploring the skills he just gained.
