Description of the track:

Brother Needs a Brother is the opening track on my new EP “One of Four”. I had the title knocking around for months, I decided a wanted to write it in a bluesy ish style with a real groove. Whilst playing with ideas I happened to watch Danny Boyle’s film 127 Hours and some of my initial lyrics fitted in loosely with the story so I went back and re-wrote them more in line with the film. I then managed to get a Jet Lagged Jeff to record some blues harp on the track to finish it off.

Track was recorded and mixed using Ableton Live and an MBox2, SE2200a condenser mic, Farida acoutic guitar and a second hand bass guitar. Percussion was a mix of beatboxing, handclaps and a selection of home made shakey eggs etc and I was whacking a baking tray too at one point.

I’d love to get some constructive feedback on the arrangement and production. This EP is my first attempt at producing stuff on my own at home so I know it’s far from perfect any hints would be greatly received.

Lyrics:

Brother Needs a Brother – Rise Bailey Rise

My brother no one knows where he gone
My brother his raven don’t come
My brother cannot believe the things he’s done

My brother
My brother
My brother needs a brother tonight

My brother pray that rain gonna flow
My brother ain’t on no futile game show
My brother’s only friend is his echo

My brother
Yes my brother
My brother needs a brother tonight

Now he’s in a hole now he knows, now he knows
Now he’s in a hole now he knows, now he knows

And now his mind it starts to fade
Falling levels memory games, what?
Searching for those freezing frames
Rewind, again, again, again, again

My brother
Yes my brother
My brother needs a brother tonight
