Project management can be a pain. It can also be something you look forward to. I’m a firm believer in the notion that if one has the right tools, a job is only as hard as you allow it to be. This can be the case for a lot of people when managing projects. Of course, there is the painstaking task of keeping track of just what needs to be done but if you’ve got a good task manager, why should this be a problem?
Bunker is an app that sets out to be a perfect solution for freelancers and small organisations alike and tackles the often distracting problem of getting stuff organised. Let’s take a look to see if it’s a good enough project manager to make you look forward to using it.
Overview
Bunker is an app that takes project and invoice management to a whole new level. It sports a sleek and contemporary interface, giving its users the ability to manage their projects in a really nice fashion. Milestones can be added for each project and also tasks, ensuring that everyone on the team (or just you if you’re a freelancer) can see what needs to be done before a project is completed. It also allows time tracking data to be exported to invoice form and offers a variety of features to ensure that invoices arrive to the client, presented in the best possible fashion.
Pricing
In terms of cost, Bunker’s incredibly cheap when compared to some competitors. It offers a free plan with a maximum limit of 1 user for the account and 2 projects and invoices (per month). If you require more invoices and projects, the first paid plan is a mere $5 per month and the other tiers being the ‘Small Team’ one costing $12 per month with up to 3 users and the ‘Full Team’ plan offering unlimited user capacity and everything else for $20.
All in all, they have a plan to suit just about everybody. If you’re a freelancer with not many projects going on at once, you’ll probably get by on the free plan but if you’ve got more projects on the go, the lower-tiered paid plan may be right for you and of course if there’s a team of you, the higher ones should be perfect. Bunker’s pricing takes into account different situations and provides a high quality app at an incredibly-good price.

First Impressions
When you navigate your way to the Bunker homepage, you’ll instantly notice the clearly-laid content that introduces you to just what you’ll be able to get with the app. Screenshots reveal the incredibly well-designed interface of the app and show exactly what it can do without many words. After registration (which takes literally seconds, no activation needed), you’ll be sent directly to the app.
Getting Started
The first thing that really stood out for me was just how nice the app is to look at. It can be a shame when an app fulfills a really interesting and useful purpose but the design of it makes it almost impossible to use. I’m glad to say that for me, this wasn’t the case and I was immediately drawn in.
The Bunker Interface
Projects and Milestones
Once an initial project has been created, you’ll easily be able to begin and start adding additional information to it through Bunker’s sleek interface. Clients can be assigned to the project for easy reference later and tasks can also be exported to invoices from here. The first thing the average user’s probably going to want to do though is start creating milestones for the project. These are essentially major stages of the project’s completion and can further be organised into tasks. Once a milestone is created, a placeholder name is added and this can immediately be renamed to something more appropriate.
Creating a Project
After this is done, you can then add tasks to each milestone to categorise the activity even further. Bunker allows you to track time for the specific tasks for easy exporting to invoices when the task is complete and each task can even be assigned to users to ensure that they know just what they need to do.
Tasks
Due dates for tasks can also be added so that you can easily see how long you’ve got to finish a specific task and ensure that it’s completed on time.
Task Properties
Expenses
Much like most other invoicing web apps, Bunker also allows expenditures to be recorded inside the interface, making sure that it’s clear how much money is going out and how much is coming in. The method of storing these is incredibly simple and notes can be added to each expense to allow for the easy reference of what the items or services were used for.
Managing Expenses
Invoices
Now, when it comes to the best features of Bunker, its ability to do invoices perfectly is definitely up there. It allows the information generated from the task management part of the app to easily be exported directly to the invoice to save time compiling the different items into the invoice’s format afterwards.
Managing Invoices
Bunker’s invoicing function is incredibly easy to use and offers a variety of features that would benefit any freelancer just wanting to worry about their job and not have to also focus on the sometimes annoying task of manually designing and formatting an invoice. All of this is handled (incredibly well, I should add) by Bunker. The app offers an array of features that allow its users to create beautiful invoices that can be altered easily without having to worry about the format as this is all handled by Bunker.
Final Thoughts
All in all, Bunker’s a really nice app. It provides a killer interface to match its small but incredibly useful set of features, and does so for a really reasonable price for any freelancer or small organisation. The project management functionality of Bunker in itself is quite impressive, offering users an easy method to manage certain milestones and tasks within those milestones – easily allowing tasks to be assigned to other users should the project require it. In addition to this, it also offers an effective method of managing invoices – all through the same central interface, meaning that data can be used for different purposes and through different sections within the app.
Bunker, summed up, is certainly an app to watch. It’s a great value for the money, since it’s a project management, time tracking, and invoicing app all together, and looks like it has just the mix of features and design to make it a pleasure to use.
