Accept Payments in Minutes With PintPay

When you’ve developed what you think is the coolest new service or digital product that you’d like to distribute online, it’s important – as with any other product – to get it out there as soon as it’s ready. It’s for this reason that so many creators turn to web apps to manage the technical side of actually processing the payments. If you’re based in the US and need something to do the hard work for you of payments, look no further than PintPay.

PintPay is a brand new app that makes payment processing simple and affordable, ensuring that payments can be taken in minutes. Read on to find out more.

Overview

PintPay makes payment processing simple again and allows users, no matter what level of technical skill, to accept one-off or recurring payments for their services. Though only available to US residents , it’s extremely well-priced and has no upfront costs for those earning less than the $300 threshold. It can be integrated with any design simply and requires absolutely no programming knowledge, making it ideal for those who just want to get on with building the product and not have to worry about anything else.

Pricing

Compared with other apps that provide similar functionality, PintPay is extremely reasonably priced. For those who use the app but don’t generate over $300 monthly revenue, there is no monthly cost and a minimal 2.9% + 30¢ of the total payment price is taken as commission. Should you be making $300-$5,000, you’ll be required to pay $29 per month in addition to this.

Registration

Getting started with the app doesn’t take long and registration is a quick and simple process. It’s currently in the private beta stage so the only thing you’ll need to get signed up is a beta code. Once you’ve entered login credentials and chosen a PintPay subdomain at which your payment page can be accessed by potential customers, you’re ready to go and you’ll immediately be directed to the app.

Creating a Product

For products to appear on the main PintPay page for your website, you’ll need to add them to the system. This is a single-step process for each product and the only details required are the product name, a short description for potential customers to identify the product they desire and the price along with the billing cycle type.

Creating a Product

If, for example, you have a blog and you’d like to offer a premium account so that users can gain access to exclusive content, you’d enter the name of this as the product name, write a brief description and then you may choose to charge the users $10 with a regular monthly billing cycle so the payment is made on a regular basis at the monthly interval you have chosen. PintPay prides itself on its flexibility and the potential uses for this don’t just extend to recurring billing – one-off payments can also be chosen for items such as digital products that would take the payment only once.

Customisation

PintPay offers various ways to change the overall design of the hosted pages, allowing for a logo to be added to the page as well as a site domain and a description. Should you not want to use one of the defaults, a background image can also be uploaded and handy colour-pickers can be used to change the colour of each individual section of the page, requiring no advanced design knowledge or coding whatsoever.

Customising the Design

Existing products can also be reordered from this section of the site, meaning that the list of products shown on the main page can reflect, for example, the hierarchy of account tiers as opposed to the order they were added to the system. A completion URL can be assigned to the account, allowing users to be redirected to a URL on your website following successful payment – a feature useful for displaying a “thank you” message or details as to how they can continue setting up their account. Finally, there is an option to enable the requirement of creating a password when paying, allowing the users themselves to manage their payments by logging in, as opposed to having to click on the link in their receipt email to do so.

Receiving Payments

Once the products have been added and you’ve tweaked the design to fit your needs, you’ll then be able to instantly begin taking payments. Simply link your users to the PintPay subdomain you chose during registration and they can choose the product they want and pay.

The payments will be listed within the app and can be managed easily from there. PintPay also offers an API that can be used to integrate the system in with your existing website should you require it. When the payment release requirements have been met, you will then be able to withdraw your earnings via PayPal or cheque.

Get Early Access

If you like what you’ve heard and would like to grab a PintPay account, the developers have also sent a beta code just for Web.AppStorm readers. When you go to register, simply use the code “APPSTORM” and you’ll get immediate access to the app. Be quick, though, because the code’s only valid for 100 registrations and after that, you’ll need to wait for the app to become public.

Conclusion

The main appealing factor of PintPay that I found was its heavily-promoted selling point: it’s easy and quick. Within a minute or two, I had created a fully-featured payment processing page through the site and should I have been using it for a real website without any programming knowledge, this would have been great. Also, the cost of using the app was extremely competitive and should a developer with no budget choose to sell a product using the app, they would be able to do so without any upfront costs, with the app only taking a small commission.

A major drawback I found was that payments will only be made when a minimum of $100 has been accumulated and PintPay hold all payments for 45 days. This can severely slow down business because users will be paying for subscriptions and service creators won’t be paid until a month and a half later.

Putting this aside, the app is still pretty good at what it does. Compared with similar apps, the process is extremely simplified, meaning that no technical knowledge is required to get up and running.
