Sr-mf-003 Mortgage Payment Calculator

This is a 4 part project. Part 1 needs to completed by this Sunday 7/11/2010

Part 1

A program written in Java (without a graphical user interface) that will calculate and display the monthly payment amount to fully amortize a $200,000.00 loan over a 30 year term at 5.75‰ interest. Insert comments in the program to document the program. Attach a design flow chart to the program’s source code.

Formula for mortgage payment calculation:

a = [P(1 + r)nr]/[(1 + r)n – 1] — where P is the principal amount, r is the interest rate and n is the term in years.

Formulas to calculate the monthly payment and balance:

interestRate = .0575;
amount = 200000;
term = 30;
monthlyInterestRate = interestRate / 12;
totalMonths= term * 12;
payment = amount * monthlyInterestRate / (1-(Math.pow((1+monthlyInterestRate ),(-totalMonths))));

Formulas to calculate the amortization:

interestPaid = loanBalance * montlyInterestRate;
principalPaid = payment – interestPaid;
loanBalance = loanBalance – principalPaid;
//loanBalance is a running number, the initial value is equal to amount

Display the mortgage payment amount and then list the loan balance and interest paid for each payment over the term of the loan. If the list would scroll off the screen, use loops to display a partial list, hesitate, and then display more of the list.

Survey Software Creation

You may or may not have already created something similar that just needs a little tweaking to fit my needs…

I’m looking for an application that allows a teacher to create an online classroom, invite students inside and then track their assignments based on completion status.

These are not smart kids so the fewer steps and options the better.

For reference points: hotchalk dot com has everything but I only need 5% of their capabilities. The same can be said of surveymonkey dot com

From the student perspective:

-They given a unique classroom code by their teacher.
-They login and see a monthly calendar with the current day highlighted.
-When they click on the current day, it takes them to a survey page to fill out.
-If they complete the assignment, the calendar represents this with either a green check for completion or a red x for not completing it (to monitor performance).

From the teacher perspective:

-The create an online classroom and are give a unique code to distribute to students.
-When they login, they see a roster of student names and a breakdown of the week (Monday thru Sunday) with red x’s or green check’s based on the student’s performance.

-They can also click on an individual’s name to see what the person has written in detail by day, week, month.

-Everything needs to be printable as well from both the teacher and the student side.

-Finally, if somebody misses an assignment, I would like a notification to be sent via email to the teacher so they can contact the student via email.

Iphone App – News And Info Push For Non-profit

We are looking to develop an iPhone app that will be used by rare disease patients. The attached PDF provides a mockup of the types of functionality we seek.

We have an existing website that has the news and information, clinical trial listings, and clinic locations. We’d like to be able to continue managing the content on the website and provide the data in XML or other format you may suggest.

Open on suggestions for the architecture to best push changing information out to the patient population. Would like the ability to have them text to a phone number or provide another means for them to donate to the cause. (might just charge different amounts for the downloading of the app?)

Technical folks running the project, but not overly familiar with iPhone app architectures, but can provide the data necessary in any format that would make the iPhone develpment easiest.

Weekly Check In/diary System For Students

I want an online system where my students must log in once a week, answer a couple yes/no questions (by checking a box), then add some thoughts of their own (like a blog). A week structure is from Monday to Sunday. If they DO NOT log in and answer the questions each week by Saturday, they are automatically sent a reminder email. If they do not do it by Sunday night, I am sent an email telling me they did not log in and do the required work.

As you can see, when you log in you to go the calendar – today’s date. They then fill in their thoughts for the day. They CANNOT write in previous days – only today’s day. And looking back through dates, the days they have written on are highlighted and can be read by clicking on them.

I want those things to work the same way. I just want to add 2 questions they have to check boxes for – and the automated email system – the warning email to them, and the email to me if they do not do their blog for the week.

In my admin I assign the students their username, password and email address.

Like with the current system, only I and the student can see their blogs. They should not be able to edit their older posts.

Please make your bid and let me know how you would go about building this – what method of programming – how long.
