I always use only Photoshop Grid System in other layered Group every time I’m starting site design development. I’m sure that it’s more comfortable that Photoshop Guides / Grids. In case I need to hide Grid — I’m just hiding the Grid Group.
In most of my sites I use 960 Grid system.
