I need Linux (Ubuntu, Mythbuntu) based custom Live CD for cyber cafe.
As main problem for cyber cafe is rise the % of PC usage, one of the
best tool is to extending the services (usage) of PC (personal movie
station with cyber cafe video collection, personal TV station with
e.g. Direct TV, gaming station with Linux, Windows and PS2 emulated
games).
As far as I saw, MythTV is best available solution (video, TV, music,
games and some other options are already included), but I will accept other solutions.
MythTV
1) I need Application plugin (it can be based on MythGame plugin (as I
saw it should be easy to make it, as application plugin settings are
significantly less than games settings and all are already included in
MythGame plugin), for typical applications for cyber cafe like
Firefox, Skype, OpenOffice, Gimp, etc.
2) I need also “Public” Menu theme (now is available default, classic,
DVR and mediacenter). That mean how ALL dialogs with any sort of the
settings (so, it is about the MythTV in client PC, it is not about
media deletion in media server) should to be in some way hidden from
final user (to disable user to make ANY TYPE OF CHANGES in menu).
– To show/hide Settings (and all settings submenus), “Program Exit”
dialog solution can works fine (Esc or other button with pop-up
confirmation dialog).
– To restrict access to content, parental controls which take a 4-
digit PIN, can works fine.
– Menu theme coding can not be hard, as it is just about to
redistribute dialogs in first two levels (it is not about to change
the dialogs). Exception is part of Settings (but I guess how it can
not be huge problem, as it is similar solution with “Program Exit”
already coded).
3) Some others configurations in Live CD should be done (but it is not
too important and it should to be easy part). it is practically thinks
related to entire system of cyber cafe (client – media server
relation).
To make more clear about Settings.
Now to enter in Settings level, user must to activate Settings level
of submenus with mouse click, keyboard Enter or remote control.
I ask to Settings button in first level should to be hidden, but
available entrance in Settings second level (submenu) via keyboard
keybindings (but, not Enter, some other combination, e.g. Ctrl+Alt+S),
what will open popup dialog with parental control PIN request (like
“Program Exit” popup dialog), where with PIN entrance will be opened
Settings second level (submenu) screen.
