Zen Cart Newsletter System

— Job Overview —

Allow Admin to create automated HTML newsletters within Zen Cart.

Admin can select template, insert sections, add products to sections and choose how many products per row for each section.

Admin can choose which Subscriber Groups will receive newsletter.

Admin can view statistics and reports

Templates and Design
2 different templates to be created. Each with unique themes. Different colors, background images etc

12 Icons to be designed = New, New Arrival, 20% off, 10% off, 5% off, Discounted, Sale, Featured, Hot Item, End of Line, Limited Stock, Hurry (Icons are for Product Listings of 1, 2 or 3 products per row. Admin can add icons to products when inserting products into sections)

Admin can choose which template to use for each Newsletter. New templates can be added in the future and Admin can select each new template for future emails.

Template Structure
Header – Logo header image (Logos will be supplied but a different header image must be designed for both templates)
Optional Sections – (All sections have different headings with a different design for each template. ):
–Product Listing Sections – Admin can choose one or more sections to be used for each newsletter. Each section can be used more than once per newsletter.
–Featured Products (product listing – max 2 products per row). Admin can select one or two products per row. Fields used in section = model, image, name, price, description, custom icon1, custom icon2
–Specials (product listing – max 5 products per row). Admin can select either three, four or five products per row. Fields used in section = model, image, name, price, (custom icon1 if 3 products per row)
–Sale (product listing – max 5 products per row). Admin can select either three, four or five products per row. Fields used in section = model, image, name, price, (custom icon1 if 3 products per row)
–New Products (product listing – max 5 products per row). Admin can select either three, four or five products per row. Fields used in section = model, image, name, price, (custom icon1 if 3 products per row)
–Clearance Items (product listing – max 5 products per row). Admin can select either three, four or five products per row. Fields used in section = model, image, name, price, (custom icon1 if 3 products per row)
–Limited Stock (product listing – max 5 products per row). Admin can select either three, four or five products per row. Fields used in section = model, image, name, price, (custom icon1 if 3 products per row)
–Best Sellers (product listing – max 5 products per row). Admin can select either three, four or five products per row. Fields used in section = model, image, name, price, (custom icon1 if 3 products per row)
News (text can be entered)
Custom (text can be entered). Admin can also create a custom text heading.
Footer – Background Image with footer text and unsubscribe link inside (2 different footer images must be designed for each template)

Product listing Notes:
Featured Section can list either One or Two products per row and has fields custom icon1 and custom icon2
All other sections can list either Three, Four or Five products per row.
If Three products per row there is a field for custom icon1
Image sizes and design of product listing will be different depending on maximum products per row
Product name and image will link to the product page on website

Three Different Newsletters
There is to be Three Newsletters that customers can be subscribed to.

Customers can subscribe/unsubscribe to all three newsletters.

By default all customers are to be subscribed to all but they can choose to remove themselves from any of the three different newsletters.

Simple Administration

When Admin sends a newsletter he will:
1. Create New Newsletter
2. Enter Subject
3. Select Template
*4. Insert a section
4b: Add the products to section
4c: Choose max products per row
5. Preview Newsletter
*6. Select Customer Group to receive email
7. Send Email

Notes for Step 4:
* A page is required that lists all products. Admin selects products to be placed into section.
* Step 4 is repeated for each section added to newsletter.

Notes for Step 6:
* There will be four choices of Newsletter Subscription Groups that Admin can choose to receive newsletter

Group 1 = Customers Subscribed to Newsletter One
Group 2 = Customers Subscribed to Newsletter Two
Group 3 = Customers Subscribed to Newsletter Three
Group 4 = Customers Subscribed to All Newsletters

Customer Newsletter Subscribe/Unsubscribe
Customer will be in control of their Newsletter subscriptions.

Customer Newsletter page needs to be changed so the customer can select which Newsletters they would like to receive.

For example:
Choice One: Newsletter One
Choice Two: Newsletter Two
Choice Three: Newsletter Three
Choice Four: Subscribe to all 3 Newsletters (default)
Choice Five: Please do not send me any Newsletter (unsubscribe)

Customer can change settings at any time.

The customer can select multiple options
If they select Choice Four or Choice Five they can only have one option.
If they select Choice One, Choice Two and Choice Three then Choice Four will be selected.

Internal Tracking and Reports
Each link back to the website will include tracking so we can view the stats and reports for each of the following:
a) Total Clicks
b) Unique Clicks
c) Bounced Emails or Errors
d) Percentage of Unique Clicks/Emails Sent
e) List of customers who DID visit
f) List of customers who DID NOT visit
g) List of customers with bounced emails
