Simple Excel Programming

I have a very simple problem but I’d like a professional to help me with it.

I am using an Excel spreadsheet to keep track of a large number of audio files of various lengths. I want to input the number of minutes and seconds in a column. For example, if a file is one hour, 47 minutes, 33 seconds long, I would type into the spreadsheet:

107:33

I would also like the option (perhaps in another column?) of formatting as follows. I type 107:33 and the result comes up:

107.55

That is, I would like to see the result as the length in minutes with a decimal: 107 33/60 minutes = 107.55 minutes.

Microsoft Excel’s time formats aren’t very good for working with duration (as opposed to time of day). I run into all sorts of issues when I try to use them. I simply want to input my data without Excel doing all sorts of funky things to it. When I type 274:33 I want that to actually mean 274 minutes and 33 seconds.

Please express understanding of this issue when you apply. At the moment, the Length column is formatted as text. The current file is attached.

Please estimate time needed to resolve this issue. More work may be available in the future if I like your work.
