This project will capture the likes from people who like a facebook page. Currently, to tally these like is a manual process.
Since there is no API that I am aware of to tally these people’s likes, this project is to build a web extraction tool (or scraper) that will gather this information for any facebook page name entered into a form.
The system will then grab the likes from the users who like a page, tally they and then report them in a web page. For instance, if you enter the facebook page for Diet Coke “http://www.facebook.com/DietCoke”, the system would go to each of the 1.2 million people’s pages who like Diet Coke and tally up their other likes and return them in a table format. I believe this system will only work for the admins of FB pages, in the case above the Diet Coke page admin.
If there is a way to grab the likes for any page, regardless of you being an admin, that would be ideal. I do not think this is possible, however.
The system will have two pages, one that is a simple web form to enter the FB page name and one with a results table.
