Groupon has launched a new service called “Groupon Now” in its home city of Chicago. We want to beat them into other cities with this service, starting in Madison, WI, but the system must be extendable on a city-by-city basis to all of the US at least, if not internationally.
Your mission, should you decide to accept it, will be to research the new Groupon Now service, and program us a clone with all the same functionalities and features, though with different and easily customizable styling (perhaps via templates).
The Groupon service is based heavily it seems on mobile location detection. We want this emphasis, too, but we also need consumers who are not so mobile to be able to use the service via email.
PHP is to be used unless there is an overwhelming reason not to. A CodeIgniter-based implementation would be great, but if you think another framework would work better, tell us why, along with your bid.
Anyone out there interested? We want it done right, but also ASAP. We’d like to have a testable model done in two weeks after accepting a bid, and are willing to pay for the fast turn-around. If you cannot work within this time frame, please feel free to bid, but be certain to let us know YOUR expected turn-around time.
