Install Ffmpeg & Mencoder & Codecs On Debian Linux

Hi,

I am running a video sharing script (socialMedia) and need the following video encoding tools installed on my Debian Linux:

* FFmpeg (http://ffmpeg.mplayerhq.hu)
* FFmpeg-PHP (http://ffmpeg-php.sourceforge.net)
* Mencoder and Mplayer (http://www.mplayerhq.hu)
* LAME MP3 Encoder (http://lame.sourceforge.net)
* Libogg (http://downloads.xiph.org/releases/ogg)
* FLVtool2 (http://rubyforge.org/projects/flvtool2/)

as well as these codecs: LAME, FAAC, X264

This must be trickier than it seems if you haven’t done this before. My server admin has not managed to get the tools installec CORRECTLY so that the script can process videos.
The script will allow video uploads of various file formats and video codecs and will convert the videos to flash (.flv). It also generates thumbnails automatically and calculates the correct runtime of the uploaded videos.
In the past, the following problems occured:
– either videos don’t get converted to Flash
– no thumbnails would be created
– no video runtime calculated

If you have done this before, this should not be too hard as many people use this script with full functionality. So experienced bidders welcome!

Thanks
Mike
