I want a personal site for myself which will serve to give myself a web presence if someone were to Google me, showing that I am not only professional, but for real.
I do not need a fancy site and here is how I have conceptualized it thus far:
Timeline in the middle from my birth until present where I will put a few important events in my life. If the user were to click on the box or point in my life it would open a window within the screen and elaborate on that date. For example, Jan 29,1986 would be the beginning of the timeline and if a user clicked on that date a box would pop up showing a baby picture of myself and detail the hospital I was born in, etc. I want to be able to edit the content of this timeline as necessary because as I grow older, I will need to add more dates as more things are accomplished and experienced.
Along the side of the site I would like two sections: Professional Links (resume in PDF and word format, Linked In, Email) and Personal Links (Facebook, Twitter, etc). I might also have a brief bio description and hobbies etc.
I would also like a way to incorporate music onto the site so when someone went to it music would play (I would need control as to what song and if it were playing or not from the backend admin)
Finally, in terms of overall design I am thinking to make use of a black and white color schemes to give it a sense of austerity, yet utter refinement. It is much the same way advertisement companies use such tactics to make the user feel a sense of empowerment. Please see this site for an example of color scheme and appearance:

The user experience has to be very smooth and elegant. The opening of the image boxes out of the time line need to be smooth and look pleasing.
How will the timeline be implemented, what technology?
