TrailingArrow is a jQuery plugin. Simply put, it is a script that will allow you to empower your menus. You first attach it to a set of elements, such as a menu or a list. Then, you designate an “arrow” image which will follow your mouse across the menu (positioning itself next to any menu item that the mouse hovers over). Naturally, when the arrow moves between menu items it is animated. If that description didn’t make sense, you should try out the Live Demo.
The script is extremely flexible, and works cross-browser due to the consistency of jQuery. The documentation has some quirks on older versions of browsers (mostly Internet Explorer) but is functional across all of them with the new patch.
The documentation is extensive and bulletproof, and will show you how to use the script quickly and easily. In fact, the default setup for the script only requires one line of JavaScript code. Also, if you don’t know jQuery, the documentation will explain how to get it and use TrailingArrow with it.
Update: A patch fixing a few unnoticed bugs on IE6 /7 has been uploaded.
