Photograph to Sketch art Tutorial (Photo Manipulation)

A 25 minute video tutorial teaching you how to take any photo, and make it into a cool sketch for some koncept art. No drawing ability needed!

Through the clever use of some different Photoshop filters, layer modes, and some rough hand sketching that truly anyone can do, we’ll go from a normal Photograph, to a really cool looking koncept-art looking sketch. Unlike many other tutorials that “cartoonize” or “sketch” your photographs, this will actually end up looking like something a digital artist would be sketching.
And the best part? Once you know how to do it, you can make a full new sketch in just about 5-10 minutes!

Of course, so you can be sure that you got everything right afterwards, the zip file contains the same file showed in the video!

To show off the effect, I’ll be using a splendid photograph by Photographer Agnieszka Wrobel.

Along with the video, you also get a Photoshop file with all the layers shown in the video, so you can see how it works in practice!
(note files in Photoshop are lower resolution)

Perfect Production Toolkit 1: Essential Processors (Software)

In this week’s Audio Premium content, Mo Volans starts a new series on how to put together the perfect production tool kit. Today we look in detail at choosing the essential processors – DAW , dynamic processors, EQ, spatial effects, modulation effects, special effects and enhancers.

With so much choice in the world of plug-ins and software instruments building the perfect collection of virtual devices can be quite a challenge. Whether you are a beginner or seasoned pro it can really pay to think about your collection of software carefully and ultimately run a tight focused system.

The trick here is to break your software down into categories and focus on the essentials. With a simplified collection you should know exactly which tool to reach for in any situation. At the end of the day isn’t this what being a good engineer is all about?

Here we look at the different processors you’ll need to complete a typical mix. Regardless of the style of music you are creating these essential tools should see you through most mix sessions.

Table of Contents

  • Step 1: Choosing Your DAW
  • Step 2: The Right Dynamics Processors for the Job
  • Step 3: Essential Equalisation
  • Step 4: Choosing Your Spatial Effects
  • Step 5: The Modulation Effects You’ll Need

Obscuring and Revealing Scenes with AS3 (ActionScript)

One of the simplest game mechanics is to let the player find a hidden object. Games based on this take many forms: Where’s Waldo, Peek-A-Boo, Spot the Difference, Hide and Seek, and of course Hidden Object. In this Active Premium Tutorial, I’ll show you two methods for obscuring a scene so that the player can uncover it later.

In the first, you’ll cover an image with balloons which the player can pop by clicking. In the second, you’ll use BitmapData to create a virtual scratchcard.

Create Presentation Slides with HTML and CSS (HTML & CSS)

So you’re a web developer, and will be giving a presentation soon. Why the heck are you reaching for that piece of software? Keynote? No thanks. I’ve learned enough programs to last a lifetime!

Why don’t we instead use the technologies that we’re already familiar with? HTML , CSS, and JavaScript.

In this 5-part screencast course (and written tutorial), I will personally take you step by step through the process of creating custom presentation slides from scratch.

Even better – you know how, sometimes, instructors assume that you understand way more than you do? Not me – I’ll cover every single line to ensure that all of you are on the same page with me.

We’ll discuss everything from JavaScript best practices, to the latest techniques in CSS3 , to perfect HTML markup. Ready?

As the editor of Nettuts+ and a site manager of the Envato marketplaces, satisfaction is guaranteed. :)

Screencasts were recorded in HD at 1280×720, using a high quality condenser mic, for maximum clarity.

Create a Personalized Child Fairy Print (Adobe Photoshop)

In this tutorial I’m going to show you how I created a personalized fairy scene using the image of a child. Parents, especially new parents, are extremely proud of their children and will always like to capture the fleeting years of their youth through commissioned art. They further appreciate to see their young one(s) in an enchanting scene, as if to create a story for them to appreciate.
