The Text on the Wet Sweaty Window 1

Go to Image -> Adjustments -> Desaturate.

The Text on the Wet Sweaty Window 2

Then go to Image -> Image Size, make sure that the “Constrain Proportions” box at the bottom is checked, and type 600 in the Width field at the top. You can type in any other value you like depending on the size you want and the text you’re going to create. Click OK.

The Text on the Wet Sweaty Window 3

Step 2

Place the “Hummer H2 Night City Car Wallpaper” image on top of the “Rain Widescreen HD Wallpaper” image. Then go to Edit -> Free Transform to resize the image. Press and hold the Shift key to constrain proportions, then click and drag the corners inward.

The Text on the Wet Sweaty Window 4

When you’re happy with the size, hit the Enter/Return key to accept the changes.

The Text on the Wet Sweaty Window 5

Step 3

Change the “Hummer H2 Night City Car Wallpaper” image layer’s Blend Mode to Overlay, and its Opacity to 80%.

The Text on the Wet Sweaty Window 6

Go to Filter -> Blur -> Gaussian Blur, and set the Radius to 5.5.

The Text on the Wet Sweaty Window 7

Step 4

Create a new layer on top of both layers and call it “Text”. Set the Foreground color to Black, pick the Brush Tool, and choose the “Rough Round Bristle” Photoshop default brush tip. Change the brush’s size to a value of your choice depending on how thick or thin you want your text to be. Here, it is set to 30 px.

The Text on the Wet Sweaty Window 8

Open the Brush panel (Window -> Brush), and un-check the Transfer box.

The Text on the Wet Sweaty Window 9

Step 5

Create the text you like using the brush you picked. Take your time with this step, and remember that you can Undo and re-create the text as many times as needed.

The Text on the Wet Sweaty Window 10

Once you’re done, decrease the brush size to a small value (around 8 px), then add some little dripping lines below the letters. You might want to thicken the lines’ tops a little bit for a more realistic effect.

The Text on the Wet Sweaty Window 11

Step 6

To emphasize the text a bit more, create a new layer on top of all layers, fill it with White, then change its Blend Mode to Soft Light and lower its Opacity to a value of your choice (something around 55%).

The Text on the Wet Sweaty Window 12

Finally, select the “Text” layer and lower its Opacity accordingly. Here, it is changed to 85%.

The Text on the Wet Sweaty Window 13

And that’s it!

Create a Forest Fairy Using Artistic Photo Processing

Resources

Step 1

Open photo in Photoshop.

Create a Forest Fairy Using Artistic Photo Processing 1

With the Polygonal Lasso Tool make a selection of the girl.

Create a Forest Fairy Using Artistic Photo Processing 2

Copy the selection to a new layer by pressing Ctrl+J.

Create a Forest Fairy Using Artistic Photo Processing 3

Step 2

Let’s work on the background first. For this purpose select the layer with the original photo and work with it only, the layer with the girl should be over the layer with the photo. Apply to the layer Image > Adjustments > Brightness/Contrast with the following settings (double-click layer if it’s still set as the background layer to convert it to a regular layer):

Create a Forest Fairy Using Artistic Photo Processing 4
Create a Forest Fairy Using Artistic Photo Processing 5

Apply Image > Adjustments > Curves.

Create a Forest Fairy Using Artistic Photo Processing 6
Create a Forest Fairy Using Artistic Photo Processing 7

Finally apply Image > Adjustments > Color balance to add a little green.

Create a Forest Fairy Using Artistic Photo Processing 8
Create a Forest Fairy Using Artistic Photo Processing 9

Step 3

Let’s give the background more contrast and sharpen it. For this purpose duplicate the layer with the photo and apply Filter > Other > High Pass to the copied layer.

Create a Forest Fairy Using Artistic Photo Processing 10
Create a Forest Fairy Using Artistic Photo Processing 11

Set the layer mode to Multiply.

Create a Forest Fairy Using Artistic Photo Processing 12

Select the Eraser Tool (Opacity: 70%) with soft-edged brush and erase this layer along the shape and contour of the girl – this will create the shining effect.

Create a Forest Fairy Using Artistic Photo Processing 13

Let’s increase the shine around the girl. Create a new layer, place it over the background and below the layer with the girl that should be still above all the layers. Set Overlay blending mode for the created layer. Select a soft-edged brush, Opacity 30%, black color (#000000) and using the Brush Tool darken the edges on the new layer.

Create a Forest Fairy Using Artistic Photo Processing 14

Change the foreground color to white (#ffffff) and dodge the background beyond the girl.

Create a Forest Fairy Using Artistic Photo Processing 15

Step 4

Let’s create the fairy now. To start select the girl layer. We are going to correct the contours of the girl a little by going to Filter > Liquify.

Brush Size: 194; Brush Density: 100; Brush Pressure: 35; Mode: Revert

Create a Forest Fairy Using Artistic Photo Processing 16
Create a Forest Fairy Using Artistic Photo Processing 17
Create a Forest Fairy Using Artistic Photo Processing 18

As we’ve corrected only the layer with the girl, the contours of the girl have remained the same on the layer with the photo, so it’s worth using the Clone Stamp Tool to correct the image. To begin with, create a new layer and place it under the layer with the girl. Then select the Clone Stamp Tool in Sample parameter, select All Layers tab and correct the image on the created layer.

Create a Forest Fairy Using Artistic Photo Processing 19

Now let’s correct the skin a bit and remove the shoulder straps from the shoulders.

Create a Forest Fairy Using Artistic Photo Processing 20

Use the Healing Brush Tool for this purpose.

Create a Forest Fairy Using Artistic Photo Processing 21

After moderate correction copy the layer with the girl and apply Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur to the copied layer.

Create a Forest Fairy Using Artistic Photo Processing 22
Create a Forest Fairy Using Artistic Photo Processing 23

Change Opacity of this layer to 60%.

Create a Forest Fairy Using Artistic Photo Processing 24

Then change layer mode to Screen for this layer.

Create a Forest Fairy Using Artistic Photo Processing 25

Duplicate this layer and change the blending mode of the copied layer to Multiply.

Create a Forest Fairy Using Artistic Photo Processing 26

Now we return to layer with the girl again (not to the blurred layer). Select a soft-edged brush with a small diameter and using the Eraser Tool erase the contour, due to this the contour of the girl will be a bit blurred, it will give the impression of a fairy tale.

Create a Forest Fairy Using Artistic Photo Processing 27
Create a Forest Fairy Using Artistic Photo Processing 28

Duplicate the layer with the girl (the one, that wasn’t blurred) and place it above all the layers.

Create a Forest Fairy Using Artistic Photo Processing 29

Apply Filter > Other > High Pass to this layer.

Reduce opacity of both layers with the dress to 50%.

Create a Forest Fairy Using Artistic Photo Processing 39

Select the Eraser Tool and use it on the layer with the white dress to clean the chest area.

Create a Forest Fairy Using Artistic Photo Processing 40

Increase the opacity of the layer with the black dress up to 100%, set the opacity of the layer with white dress to 10% and merge down the two layers.

Create a Forest Fairy Using Artistic Photo Processing 41

Now we change the color of the dress using Image > Adjustments > Hue/Saturation.

Create a Forest Fairy Using Artistic Photo Processing 42
Create a Forest Fairy Using Artistic Photo Processing 43

Select a Chalk brush and using the Smudge Tool (Strength: 50%) process the contours of the dress.

Create a Forest Fairy Using Artistic Photo Processing 44
Create a Forest Fairy Using Artistic Photo Processing 45

Create a new layer, select the brush again, 1px in diameter, white color (#ffffff), then using the Pen Tool (Paths mode), create a curve, taking into account the breast line, the curve should repeat the shape of the body a little.

Create a Forest Fairy Using Artistic Photo Processing 46

A little dialog box will appear as in the screenshot. Choose Brush as a source in the dropdown menu.

Create a Forest Fairy Using Artistic Photo Processing 47

Next right click again and select Delete Path.

Create a Forest Fairy Using Artistic Photo Processing 48

Other curves are created using the same principle. To increase their amount, curves can be copied, transformed etc.

Create a Forest Fairy Using Artistic Photo Processing 49

Copy the current layer with curves and put the copied layer under the original. Then apply Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur to it.

Create a Forest Fairy Using Artistic Photo Processing 50

Apply Edit > Transform > Flip Vertical to this layer.

Create a Forest Fairy Using Artistic Photo Processing 57

Now select a soft-edged brush, and correct this layer a bit by using the Eraser Tool.

Create a Forest Fairy Using Artistic Photo Processing 58

Create a new layer, assign Overlay blending mode to it, select a soft-edged brush and using the Brush Tool darken the waist area to emphasize it, dodge in the chest area, also darken the hair and dodge the highlight on the hair, use black to darken (#000000), and white to dodge (#ffffff).

Create a Forest Fairy Using Artistic Photo Processing 59

Step 6

Open the Butterfly photo. Cut out the butterfly by using the Polygonal Lasso Tool, scale it down with Edit > Transform > Scale and paste it on girl canvas.

Create a Forest Fairy Using Artistic Photo Processing 61

Apply Image > Adjustments > Levels to the layer with the butterfly.

Vintage 3D Text Effect in Photoshop CS6

The 3D Environment in Photoshop CS6 is a great way to create amazing 3D text effects without the need for any other 3D software. This tutorial will explain how to use the many tools and settings to create a nice vintage 3D text effect.

Final Image

Resources

Step 1

Create a new 1000×1000 px document, set the Foreground color to #acacac, and fill the Background with that color using the Paint Bucket Tool.

Create the text in white. The font used is Great Vibes, and the Size is 250 pt.

If you have more than one line of text, click the “Right align text” icon in the Options bar, then change the Leading value to a value that will decrease the space between the lines without making them overlap. The value used here is 230 pt, but if you are using a different text, then you might need to use a different value.

Step 2

With the text layer selected, go to Type -> Extrude to 3D. This will convert the text into a 3D mesh.

To access the 3D mesh settings and properties, you’ll need to open two panels: The 3D panel, and the Properties panel (both found under the Window menu).

The 3D panel has all the components of the 3D scene, and when you click the name of any of those, you’ll be able to access its settings in the Properties panel. So make sure to always select the name of the element you want to modify in the 3D panel before you change its settings in the Properties panel.

In the new 3D environment in CS6, there are no special 3D Tools anymore. If you select the Move Tool and check its Option bar now, you’ll find a set of 3D Modes for the tool to the right of the bar. When you choose one of those, you can then click and drag to perform any changes (on the selected element in the 3D panel).

Step 3

To start modifying the 3D mesh, select its name in the 3D panel, then move to the Properties panel, and change the Extrusion Depth to 100.

Click the Cap icon at the top, then change the Width to 20%, and the Contour to Gaussian. This will make the edges a bit rounded.

Step 4

If you want to check how the mesh looks from a different angle, you can pick the Move Tool, click “Current View” in the 3D panel, then click and drag in an empty area to move the scene around.

It’s better to move the scene (the camera view) instead of the mesh itself. This helps prevent any unwanted change in the lighting.

If you want to move the mesh, make sure that it is a permanent change (not only to change the view). Then, you can click the mesh in the 3D scene (or select its name in the 3D panel), and use the 3D axis to make any changes.

The arrows at the ends of the axis move the mesh, the part below them is used for rotation, and the cubes are used for scaling. The cube in the center is used to scale the object uniformly. All you need to do is click and drag the wanted part.

It might seem a bit hard at first, and things will start flying everywhere, but you’ll get used to working in the 3D space with time and practice.

You can as well enter certain values to change the settings. So click the Coordinates icon in the Properties panel, then change the X Rotation value of the 3D mesh to 90°.

This will rotate the mesh so that it faces upwards.

You’ll notice that the mesh is floating above the ground plane. To fix that, go to 3D -> Snap Object to Ground Plane.

Step 5

Now, you’ll need to change the Camera View so that it point towards the text. Go ahead and use the Move Tool 3D Modes to move your camera around until you like the view.

You can save the camera position by clicking the “Save…” option from the View drop down menu in the Properties panel.

Enter a name for the view then click OK.

The camera view will be saved, so if you change the camera angle then want to get back to this view, you can choose it from the View drop down menu, or click its name down the 3D panel.

Step 6

Time to modify the 3D mesh materials. Start by clicking the “Front Inflation Material” in the 3D panel. In the Properties panel, change the Diffuse color to #a1a1a1, the Specular to #a6a6a6, the Illumination to #080808, and the Ambient to #8d8d8d. Then change the Shine value to 80%, the Reflection to 30%, and the Refraction to 1.37.

Move on to the “Front Bevel Material”. Change the Diffuse color to #a8a7a5, the Specular to #c9cacc, the Illumination to #080808, and the Ambient to #000000. Then change the Shine value to 66%, the Reflection to 20%, and the Refraction to 1.21.

Next is the “Extrusion Material”. Use the same Front Bevel Material settings, except for the Reflection value, which is set to 30%.

This will give the text a polished slick appearance.

Step 7

Select the “Infinite Light 1″ in the 3D panel. Then, in the Properties panel, change the Intensity to 90%, and the Shadow Softness to 20%.

Click the Coordinates icon in the Properties panel to change the Light direction.

Click the “Add new Light to Scene” icon down the 3D panel, and choose New Point Light.

Change the new light’s Intensity to 50%, and uncheck its Shadow box, as we only need shadows from one light source, which is the Infinite Light.

Click the Coordinates icon in the Properties panel to change the Light position. The same exact values might not work on the scene or the text you’re creating. So just use the Move Tool to change the lights position or direction however you like.

These are screenshots for the lights from different angles. You can use them as a guide to place your own lights.

Step 8

Click Environment in the 3D panel, then, in the Properties panel, change the Intensity to 30%. To make the Ground Plane reflective without the need to add any new 3D meshes, change the Reflection Opacity to 20%. The higher the value the more reflective the ground plane is.

Once you’re done modifying the scene, go to 3D -> Render. The rendering might take some time. You can stop rendering anytime by clicking anywhere in the document.

Step 9

Once the rendering is done, save the final result. Then click the “Create new fill or adjustment layer” icon down the Layers panel, and choose Levels.

Change the Shadows value to 20 and the Highlights value to 223.

Click the “Create new fill or adjustment layer” icon again, but this time, choose Gradient Map.

Change the Gradient Map adjustment layer’s Blend Mode to Linear Burn, and its Opacity to 40%. The gradient used is one of Photoshop’s default gradients, and it’s called “Violet, Green, Orange”.

The cool thing about creating the 3D text in grayish colors is that you can colorize the final result using a wide variety of gradients. So you can go ahead and try some different gradients if you like, and you’ll get some awesome results.

Create a Simple Price Table in Adobe Photoshop

In the following tutorial you will learn how to create a simple price table using Photoshop.

As always, this is the final image that we’ll be creating:

Create a Simple Price Table in Adobe Photoshop 11

Resources

Step 1

Open Photoshop and hit Control + N to create a new document. Enter all the data shown in the following image and click OK.

Enable the Grid (View > Show > Grid) and the Snap to Grid (View > Snap To > Grid). For the moment you need a grid every 5px. Go to Edit > Preferences > Guides, Grid & Slices and focus on the Grid section. Enter 5 in the Gridline Every box and 1 in the Subdivision box. Also, set the color of the grid to #a7a7a7.

Once you set all these properties click OK. Don’t get discouraged by all that grid. It will ease your work.

You should also open the Info panel (Window > Info) for a live preview of the size and position of your shapes.

Step 2

Set the foreground color to #205d7a, grab the Rounded Rectangle Tool, set the radius to 5px and draw a 145 by 420px vector shape.

Move to the Layers panel and double click on this rounded rectangle to open the Layer Style window.

Activate the Drop Shadow, the Inner Shadow, the Outer Glow, the Inner Glow and the Stroke then enter the properties shown in the following images.

In the end, it should look like the second image. You can disable the Grid (View > Show > Grid or Control + ” ) for a few moments if you want to have a better look at your shape.

Now we are going to create the Scotch tape. Use the Polygonal Lasso Tool to make a selection which you can see on the picture below. Create a new layer and fill the selected area with #c1cccd.

How to Create Scotch Tape in Photoshop 6

Remove the selection with Ctrl+D. Now, we need to process the Scotch tape borders. Start by selecting the Eraser Tool and use one of the standard Photoshop brushes.

Gently erase the edges to achieve a similar result to that shown below.

How to Create Scotch Tape in Photoshop 8

Set the opacity to 22% for the current layer.

Time to add some defects to make our Scotch tape look realistic. Use the Dodge Tool (Brush: 7px, Range: Highlights, Exposure: 50%) to add a few light lines.

How to Create Scotch Tape in Photoshop 10

Looks better now, doesn’t it? Then use the Burn Tool (Brush: 30px, Range: Shadows, Exposure: 100%) to darken some areas.

Step 4

To finish off creating this Scotch tape effect, duplicate the layer using Ctrl+J and change layer mode to Overlay for the copied layer. Don’t be surprised that the layer becomes a bit brighter. It is normal. Then apply Filter > Stylize > Emboss with similar settings to these:

Once you set all these properties click OK. Don’t get discouraged by all that grid. It will ease your work later.

Step 2

Open the picture and copy it to the first canvas with fruit. Then set up opacity to 45% for this layer and use Edit > Free Transform to reduce the picture and rotate it as on my picture below.

How to Cheat with Visualization in Photoshop 2

Set the opacity to 100% for current layer again and begin cleaning with the Eraser Tool. Use a soft round brush with opacity about 30%. Remove all parts, leaving only the eyes, lips and nose.

How to Cheat with Visualization in Photoshop 3

Move the layer with the face a little bit to the left by using the Move Tool.

How to Cheat with Visualization in Photoshop 4

Step 3

Press Ctrl+J to duplicate the layer and hide the upper copy (click on the eye, which indicates layer visibility). Go to the lower layer and apply Image > Adjustments > Color Balance using these settings:
