Watch Steve Jobs’ First Demonstration of the Mac for the Public, Unseen Since 1984

It’s January, 1984. Steve Jobs, nattily attired in a double-breasted suit, is demonstrating Apple’s breakthrough personal computer, Macintosh, before a packed room. He speaks alarmingly of a future controlled by IBM, and shows a dystopian commercial based on that theme. He says that the Mac is “insanely great” and plucks the diminutive machine from a bag; it talks for itself. Screens of a graphical user interface — something few people had seen at the time — swoop by. The theme from Chariots of Fire swells. Jobs beams, as only he could.

Evasi0n7 Jailbreak: How To Fix iOS 7 Status Bar

The path to a jailbroken device has often proved to be full of hurdles and unforeseen obstacles. History has already shown us on more than one occasion that releasing a jailbreak can delight and infuriate users in equal measure, something that has once again been proven with the release of Evasi0n7.

A growing number of users have been reporting issues with a problematic status bar in IOS 7 immediately after the jailbreak.

It may not be the biggest issue to ever befall a liberated iOS device, but not having the content of the status bar turn white can be extremely annoying and can detract from the overall experience. Thankfully, there is a simple resolution to this issue that can be followed through below and comes in the form of a Cydia package installation.

StatusBarFix2

Step 1: Launch the Cydia app and wait for packages to refresh. Navigate to the Manage tab from the bottom bar.

Step 2: Select Sources from the main interface.

Step 3: Select Edit and then Add from the top left hand corner of the navigation bar.

Step 4: In the resulting popup add the URL of the repository that hosts the package to fix the issue: http://repo.pnre.co.vu

Step 5: Select Add Source from the Cydia/APT URL alert and wait for the packages to refresh.

Step 6: Select the Search tab from bottom bar and search for StatusBarFix2. Install the package just like any standard Cydia tweak.

Evad3rs have now released a new version of their popular jailbreak tool to fully support jailbreak on iOS 7.1.

support for iOS7.1b3, new Cydia bundle, and iPad mini Retina reboot loop fix

After releasing version Evasi0n 1.0.3 only yesterday, Evad3rs have now just pushed out another update to Evasi0n iOS 7.x jailbreak, this time updating it to version 1.0.4. This new version includes an important security fix related to untether which was first reported by Winocm earlier today, as well as a proper fix for boot loop issues on Retina iPad mini.

Official changelog of version 1.0.4:

evasi0n7 updated to 1.0.4 at with important untether security fixes & (we hope) no more iPad mini Retina JB issues!

Existing JB users will receive the evasi0n7 1.0.4 untether security update through Cydia as soon as @saurik refreshes his repository!

So yes, if you are already jailbroken on iOS 7.x, just wait for the update to appear on Cydia, which should be very soon. You don’t have to restore/re-jailbreak using the Windows or Mac OS X tool.

Blackra1n: released a version to do the jailbreak and unlock ios 7.0.4?

Many readers write to us to know if a version of blackra1n released for ios 7.0.4

I remember for those who do not know what is blackra1n:

blackra1n

blackra1n is a program that jailbreaks versions 3.1, 3.1.1 and 3.1.2 of Apple’s operating system for iDevices, known as iOS.

The program uses a bug in the USB code of the firmware for iDevices, allowing unsigned code to be executed.[1] Blackra1n uses this exploit to patch the firmware of the iDevice while in DFU (Device Firmware Upgrade) mode. This mode is used when upgrading firmware through iTunes, but also can be activated by the user. The program allows users to install the Cydia, Icy (removed in blackra1n RC3),[2] and Rock package managers. These applications allow the user to access tweaks, homebrew applications, the root directory and the file system of the iDevice. Blackra1n can also perform tethered jailbreaks on the iPod Touch 3G and the iPhone 3GS, if the devices are running OS 3.1.2. When iOS 3.1.3 was released, SpiritJB had come out, and was untethered for both 3.1.2 and 3.1.3.
Blackra1n has been superseded by Spirit by Comex.

How to display battery percentage ( % ) on the iPhone 5s

One of the first things I did when I got the iPhone 5s was to set the display of the battery percentage in the status bar at the top …

The steps are very simple where you just do the following:

iPhone5s_percentage

To view the number as a percentage, you must go to Settings-> General -> Usage and in this section activate the voice Battery Percentage

The iPhone 5S And iPhone 5C

The iPhone 5S is set to be Apple’s new top of the line smartphone, but arguably the most interesting news will be the iPhone 5C. The company’s first purpose-built budget iPhone, the iPhone 5C aims to take a chunk out of the market that is currently filled with a million and one different Android phones. Can Apple disrupt it?

iPhone-5S-iPhone-5CC
Let’s have a recap of what will be announced, iPhone related, on the 10th of September. Assuming it’s not all in our heads, of course.
Faster processor:

Replacing the current iPhone 5, the 5S is what we’ve come to expect from an ‘S’ designated release at this point. Expect new internals that amount to a speed bump with A7 chip that should see iOS 7 zip along nicely. Transitions should be more fluid, and as someone who’s been using iOS 7 on his main device since beta 1, that’s no bad thing.

Home button with fingerprint sensor:

More interestingly, rumors of a fingerprint sensor being built right into the Home button may have had some foundation after all. Being able to unlock a device without having to enter a PIN code but also having some security at the same time is something that will appeal to many, so we’ll be keeping an eye out for that. The talk on the street is that the sensor is also going to play an important role in some sort of mobile payment system that Apple may or may not also be working on. We’re less convinced about that, but we’ll find out soon enough.

Camera:

Fans of iPhone photography will also note that the iPhone 5S is set to launch with a dual-LED flash arrangement similar to that found on other high end smartphones, too. The phone is also expected to sport 12-megapixel sensor with better low-light performance.

Design + new color options:

When it comes to looks, the 5S will largely resemble the iPhone 5 you may have in your pocket right now. The main exception is the possibility of a new champagne/gold color that has shown up in plenty of photos. Love it or hate it, the idea of Apple offering a third color option is one that has our interest piqued.
Additionally, if more rumors are to be believed, a new addition to the mix will be ‘graphite’ color option for iPhone 5S.
Storage:

Fans of apps, games and media will also be pleased to hear that the iPhone 5S is expected to offer storage options all the way up to 128GB, also.

Availability:

Based on prior years’ release date, the iPhone 5S is expected to launch in U.S. and some other countries on Friday, September 20th.

Price:

Same as the current iPhone 5.

Apple’s iPhone 5C
To us, the iPhone 5C is possibly the most interesting of the two iPhones expected to be announced by Tim Cook and co. on September 10th. The fabled ‘budget iPhone,’ the 5C – c for ‘color, presumably’ – will replace the currently shipping iPhone 5. Usually, when Apple announces a new iPhone the older version becomes the new budget alternative, but not this year.

Internals:

Coming in a plastic shell, the iPhone 5C’s innards are going to be a mix of iPhone 5 and 4S, with more taken from 5 than 4S, so expect performance to be on a par with that device. That’s no bad thing, because the iPhone 5 handles everything you can throw at it and with minimal fuss. For a budget device, the iPhone 5C with a 8-megapixel camera is set to be quite the powerhouse.

Outer design:

It’s that plastic shell that will get everyone’s attention, though. Available in a range of colors, the iPhone 5C will resemble an iPod in that it will come in a bright, shiny chassis that is sure to stand out from the crowd. If you’re walking around with a bright blue iPhone 5C, people will notice!
iPhone-5C1
Color options:

White, yellow, blue/cyan, red and green.
iPhone-5C-colors
Availability:

Same as iPhone 5S.

Price:

Rumors so far are putting the price of iPhone 5C to be between $300 to $400 for the unlocked version.

Whether you’re looking to splash the cash on a new monster iPhone or would rather be a little more frugal and upgrade to an iPhone 5C from, say, an iPhone 4S, Apple should have you covered. The iPhone 5S might not have all the bells and whistles of a brand new, redesigned iPhone, but the 5C should certainly be enough to get people into Apple Stores regardless.

Now that the first beta of iOS 7 is finally in the hands of developers, users are wondering where to find the updated firmware. Here are all the formal links, but be careful what you do.

This first release, number 11A4372q, comes to a small number of devices: iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, iPhone 4 and iPod touch fifth generation, and together with the latter, Apple has also released new Beta for Apple TV, a Beta of the app Find My iPhone, as well as the first build the Xcode developer Preview 5.

How To Downgrade iOS 7 to IOS 6

Step 1) – Download firmware 6.x or 5.x to download IOS page

Step 2) – Now connect your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad to your computer via the Lightning connector.

Step 3) – Launch iTunes and go into the device summery tab. Now Option click on Mac or Shift click on Windows the Restore button and then select the iOS 6.1.3 or iOS 6.1.4firmware.

Step 4) – You will now simply need to watch your iOS device be restored back to iOS 6.x. If you experience an error simply place your device into DFU mode and then repeat the process from step 3.

Unfortunately it isn’t possible to downgrade from iOS 7 to a Jailbreakable firmware like iOS 6.1.2 even with saved SHSH blobs. The only devices that can downgrade back to iOS 6.1.2 with saved SHSH blobs is A4 devices like the iPhone 4.

Downgrade iPhone ios 6.1.3 to ios 6.1.2

Downgrade iPhone  Running ios 6.1.3 to ios 6.1.2: Currently we cannot support this process. It is very complicated and requires some extra research to complete the process. Not all phones will be able to be downgraded. The best thing to do is not update the iPhone to 6.1.3 until there is a stable untethered jailbreak, and a stable carrier bundle and commcenter patch created. Please follow these instructions carefully, and use google to find any information that you need.

Redsn0w: Jailbreak iOS 6.1.3 On Pre-A5 iPhone And iPod touch

Again, if you happen to be on iOS 6.1.2, DO NOT update to iOS 6.1.3, or you will lose your untethered jailbreak. This tutorial applies to users of pre-A5 powered iOS devices only, who may have accidently updated to 6.1.3, or those developers who want to test their tweaks and apps on 6.1.3 for any future public untethered jailbreak release.

Compatibility:

  • iPhone 4, iPod touch 4, iPhone 3GS

Things which you will need:

  • Redsn0w 0.9.15b3 [Windows / Mac]
  • iPhone 4/3GS, iPod touch 4th-gen running iOS 6.1.3 final. You can download iOS 6.1.3 from here.
  • iOS 6.0 IPSW. You can download iOS 6 from here.

Before you go ahead, keep in mind that this is a tethered jailbreak and will require you to plug your device into your computer in case you wish to reboot your device. With that aside, lets begin.

Step 1: Download the original iOS 6.0 from the link provided above.

Step 2: Download and fire up Redsn0w 0.9.15b3 and run it. Download links above.

Step 3: Click on the visible Extras button and choose Select IPSW. Point Redsn0w to the unmodified iOS 6.0 IPSW you downloaded in step 1.

Step 4: From Redsn0w’s main screen, simply click on Jailbreak and follow the easy on-screen instructions. When prompted, choose to install Cydia.

Step 5: When instructed, enter DFU mode with the help of the Redsn0w wizard.

If all has gone well, Redsn0w will now start doing its magic in the background: jailbreaking your device using the Limera1n exploit and installing Cydia in order for you to install and run third-party tweaks or packages. This process should not last more than just a few minutes.
