“I get a message: The uploaded file could not be moved to /var/www/html/wp-content/uploads/2011/05”

You must CHMOD the “uploads” folder located in the /var/www/html/wp-content/uploads/ to 777. You can CHMOD (change the permissions) of a file using your favorite FTP program. If you are confused try following this tutorial.
