As the title suggests, Sisillyan is a rather silly take on the godfather mythos. Written in the style of a vintage Italian party dance, the brass and accordion create a strong rhythm whilst the piano melody bounces off and around them. In the second half they’re joined by a meandering fiddle which brings to mind the mournfulness of the great depression. It is perhaps evocative of the godfather after he’s had a bit to drink, when he was still the only profitable business in town.
