This world beat begins with an exotic eastern drum rhythm and a pulsating arpeggiation on the acoustic guitar before the Oboe takes up the main theme of the piece. The seductive and subdued feeling of the beginning suggests the possibility of discovery and adventure. On the second time through the theme, an ensamble of soaring strings take up the main theme, accentuated by a solo flute countermelody, and the mood is at once thrilling and majestic. Paradise has been found; a new world is on the horizon.
