Here are the requirements of the Book Leaf Library: It will be 2 fold- internal as well as external display on the website
Internally
1. Manual as well as accept scanned bar codes ( we are getting our bar codes for the book printed by next week)
2. Fields- Title Author Publisher Year of Publication, Category (& also subcategory), Description, Availability/In Circulation, Checked in/out date, image of Book ( either accepts it online or we scan and put in given some of the books are old), (look & Feel a mixture like this: http://justbooksclc.com/Catalog.action?category=Toddlers&categoryType=Young+Readers&categoryCode=37&page=1&displaySet=1 & http://www.librarywala.com/web/Book.aspx?CID=1&SID=56 )
If it can also accept Price of the book
Should also give a chance for people to review and show the number of reviews
Copies available- hardcover/paperback & price ( as sometimes the book can be abridged and hence a different price)
2. This should be able to be in sync with our desktop as well as online? (given sometimes the bsnl may not work, then at least we have the updated list on our desktop) and as soon as it connects it should update the listing on the online version
3. Also we are thinking of scanning and barcoding our member cards. So we need to have the internal listing which will pick up the member card against the book taken and its due date and also automatic email alerts sent to members via email or sms(many members dont have an internet connection at home. ( we also need to have reminders or highlight to display those who have not yet responded/paid their dues. Members also suspend, so a field for – Active/Suspended/ Members can also payfor 3 mths or 6 months or a year- so it should accordingly accept. So reminders for monthly subscription due and also for book return.
4. And generate report at the end of the month- members active/non active etc. No. of book outside, most read book of the month, etc.
