Personal Hubs with Sprred

When you’re looking to create your own blog or personal hub, you want to be able to keep everything in one place. Yes, there are several apps out there that bring different features to the table, with some offering more social methods of content sharing. But what if you want to just worry about your own content and nothing else? Imagine having a blog that also doubles up as a photo and video sharing app, a profile for your professional persona and one with some personal information.

Look no further than Sprred. Find out more about this cool app inside the article.

Overview

Sppred allows anyone to create their own online presence where they can create and maintain a blog, with the ability to share both images and videos. It not only allows any easy way to manage content but it also allows for the addition of two profiles, one professional and one personal, that can be accessed based on the reader’s intentions. With support for various 3rd party service integration, it is the ultimate personal hub.

User-Interface

The Sprred interface is quite clean and is extremely easy to navigate. The universal navigation menus are quite helpful, whereby they allow for the quick access of all Sprred features. Overall, the site is incredibly simple to use and could easily be picked up quite quickly too.

The design of each Sprred is quite easy on the eye, too, with a simple sky-based theme. However, there is no way to properly customize each Sprred so in that respect, the app could be improved a lot with the addition of that feature.

Creating Content

The most important part of Sprred is content. Each Sprred focuses around it and it’s a really straightforward process to add it. Once you’ve created your account, you’ll be taken to the dashboard. From here, you’ll be able to manage most aspects of your Sprred, with everything laid out neatly for easy access.

To create your first post, you can do so using the nice little menu at the top of the page. From here you can choose the type of content you wish to add to your blog. This can be text, photos, videos and links, and each one allows for the simple uploading or writing of content without another page load, allowing it to be completed from the dropdown menu. Once you’ve uploaded or written the content, you can add tags to the post to better categorise the posts, and also choose whether or not you’d like to publish it immediately. Though it does now allow for post scheduling (possible future feature perhaps?), posts can be saved as drafts and also made private so that unauthorised users cannot view them. Overall, it’s a quick and simple process and one of the easiest ways I’ve found to share content.

Managing Content

Once you’ve added your content, it is possible to go back and edit certain parameters such as the name and description of your photo and video, as well as add tags so that it’s easy to find certain content based upon the tags you set for it. You can choose to set certain items as private so that they are not publicly accessible through your Sprred.

Managing Posts

All posts on Sprred are automatically categorised into the three main streams depending on the type of media added – Blog, Photostream and Videostream. These are all displayed in sections on each Sprred and there are pages dedicated to each so that your users can easily differentiate between the types of content.

Profiles

On Sprred, you can have two profiles – one for your personal information and another for your professional information. To customise this, you can use the dropdown “Profile” menu in the dashboard and then select the one you wish to edit. From here you can add information such as gender, location and birthday, and also more personal information such as your favourite types of certain media.

With this, it is possible to use your Sprred to really be the public access point for yourself, where potential employers can view your professional information and those who just want to know more about you can take a look at your personal information.

Email Content

A good feature is the ability to submit content to your Sprred through email by emailing content to [email protected]. When this is done, the content will be added straight to your Sprred. This can be useful if you’re away from home and have access to mobile internet, allowing you to update your Sprred on the go. Of course, you can use this when you’re at the computer too if you’d rather not use the Sprred interface.

Service Integration

With Sprred, it’s possible to link your account with some of the top services for media sharing so that all of your content is directly pushed to them. Some of these services include Facebook and Twitter – giving you the option of automatically posting your content to the services. There is also indication that there will be support for Flickr and Vimeo in the near future, which would be great if they allowed any Sprred media to automatically be pushed to personal profiles on the services.

Final Thoughts

I believe that the app is well-designed and certainly holds a weighty array of features. It can be a great way to manage a single online presence where you’d rather have everything in one place than branch out to different apps depending on the type of content you’d like to manage.

The variety of options available to make your Sprred unique, however, are quite limited and you are not able to customize the design of your Sprred. This is a serious flaw as not everyone wants to have the default design, even if it does maintain the branding of the app. This aside, however, the app is still quite a nice addition to any app collection and if used correctly, could become a good way of maintaining an online presence.
