I read a expression about asynchronous nature of event-bus architecture, if I got it true?

I recently somewhere read that event-bus pattern nature is asynchronous so for implementing this pattern used platform must support asynchronously functionality! so I guess because of this fact, I can’t use this pattern by by PHP language! am I right?
