How to Add PowerPoint Chart Animation Quickly

Note: Watch this short tutorial screencast or follow the quick steps below, that complement this video.

1. Animate Chart Entrance Onto Screen

choose fade powerpoint chart animation
Use the Fade animation option to cause the chart to fade onto the screen.

So one type of animation
you can create for a chart is to animate the entire chart or graph onto the slide.

I’ll
go ahead and click on this chart and then come up to the Animations menu. There
are many animation styles you can choose from. Let’s click on a simple one like Fade to try it out.

2. Preview a Chart Entrance

Use the Preview option to get a look at what your PowerPoint chart animation will look like.

Then let’s click on Preview to see it play. You could always change the animation style later if you want.

3. Animate a Series

Animate a series
You can animate a series on the PowerPoint chart to enter the screen individually.

Another type of animation is something more advanced and allows you to animate this series on the chart individually. Let’s go ahead and click on Animation Pane on the menu. I’ll double click and choose Chart Animation then change this to By Series. Then I’ll click on Series 2 in the Animation Pane. Finally, I’ll select a fancy
animation like Pulse.

4. Preview a Series Animation

Use the Preview icon to see what your series animation will look like.

When I press Preview you can see now that the individual series animates separately so that it really stands out.

Finishing Up!

Either animation type can make your charts more engaging than static graphs on their own. The important thing is that you’ve added interest to your presentation using PowerPoint Chart animation.
