Running a business requires multiple software for handling multiple tasks. We have powerful web apps that can handle these tasks with gusto. But the real pain point is interoperability. How many apps allow you to pull contact information from your email address book to Projects or Billing and vice versa? Not many.
For small businesses, it is efficient and productive to stop wasting time trying to manage with multiple software and web tools. Instead, you can opt for an all in one solution that offers a decent set of features at a reasonable price point. Like WORKetc. Can it lift the entire weight of operating a small business all by itself? We will find it soon enough.
Overview
WORKetc is a Swiss army knife of web apps and it combines all the essential small business solutions like CRM, Project management, Billing, Sales and Support. WORKetc is simple to use for businesses with 1 to 100 employees and has a powerful automation engine under the hood to help take your business to the next level.
After Sign up the password and login information are mailed to your email address.
Pricing
For all the services the web app offers, the pricing seems to be a huge bargain. Subscriptions start at $29.95 and there are three plans to choose from.
Pricing
All users can sign up for a 14 day no obligation free trial which does not require a credit card while signing up.
Dashboard
Dashboard Wizard
Check your email to get the password for your account and visit the sub domain you have chosen while signing up. After logging in, we are presented with the Dashboard Wizard which offers to help us walkthrough the features, setting permissions & add additional information about your account.
Dashboard
The Dashboard is very plain looking without any attractive design elements. The right hand pane can be used to add widgets that show to dos, sales leads, etc.
CRM
Creating a New Lead
I began by creating a new lead and found the form to have all the relevant fields. Contacts get auto populated, stages of the lead, sales actions etc. are all in place. Once I completed the form & saved the lead, it promptly showed up under the contact’s name.
Contacts
CRM is also deeply tied to projects and billing aspects of the app too.
Projects
Create a Project
Projects can be found in the Work menu. All the vital requirements like delegation, priority, budget, deadlines, milestones etc. are available in WORKetc. Milestones can be color coded and are displayed in the built in calender module. Milestones can be dragged and dropped across the calender.
Billing
Invoice
Finance section of WORKetc is very comprehensive covering aspects like invoicing to expense reports. Invoices can be created with multiple items and can be emailed directly from the app. You can keep track of them in the system and send reminders to your clients as well. Fees from timesheets and projects are also captured.
Customer Support
Tickets
With WORKetc you can create support tickets, assign them to support executives, track customer support, send canned responses via email and publish a knowledge base for customer self help. You can also chat live with your customers with the custom URL available in the support section.
Final Thoughts
Despite trying to a lot do a lot of things at the same time, WORKetc must be credited for doing almost all of them with finesse. There are a lot of features in every section and businesses which use a particular aspect of the app heavily than others, say CRM, will not find anything amiss.
WORKetc could however use some sort of visual refresh to eliminate the gloomy mood of the current UI. Also, major sections of app like projects, billing etc. are listed under drop downs like Work & Finance. Searching for these is counter productive and shortcuts to key features can be placed on the right pane which is largely unused.
If you are a business owner who isn’t very particular in using multiple bloated apps & worried about importing/ exporting data between apps, there can’t be a better choice than WORKetc.
