I have a data scraping project that needs to be done tomorrow. It’s not complex, I just have too much on my plate tomorrow to code it myself. I would just do it with curl awk and sed, but you probably have better tools for this.
If you know what you’re doing with either your unix scripting or some data mining tools, this should be done (including parsing and processing) in under an hour.
I have a list of 462 urls located on a website that I need to scrape for data. It can be scraped and processed using open.dapper.net as well. I’ve had success scraping it to xml that way in the past.
Either way, its a quick and easy project. Scrape 462 records and send me an excel spreadsheet or a CSV file. 1 hour tops if you know what you’re doing, 1 1/2 hours if you have to consult the man pages.
Here is the kicker. I will be choosing the winning bidder at 8AM EST (GMT-5) later today (August 14 2010). I will need the project back by 1pm EST that same day. That’s going to give you 5 hours to complete a one hour job.
Please only reply if you understand screen scraping. I will not be answering questions about this listing, I just dont have time. I will be choosing the winning bidder based on three things:
1) Their response to this listing assuring me that they understand the technology needed.
2)The bidders complete understanding that since this is extremely time sensitive, I will not be posting money to the escrow until you have assured me the job is completed as I will be hiring a different bidder to do the job if it isnt done by the deadline.
3) Least importantly, price. It’s a one hour job, I’m not too worried.
