A word about InMotion
InMotion Hosting is an employee-owned and -operated domain name and web hosting company that was founded in 2001. Its web hosting network is based on Linux and Unix operating systems. The company provides a wide range of web hosting solutions, including business class hosting, VPS hosting, personal/cheap hosting and dedicated servers.
What I tested
I was offered to test the popular “Launch Plan”, an all-in-one starter pack for personal websites and blogs. Because InMotion Hosting knows that I’m very interested in WordPress (as well as most of my readers) they thought that plan would be a great pick for me to try.
The first positive surprise was to see that WordPress was already installed on my server. Installing WordPress is super easy, but who wouldn’t want to save a few minutes by leaving the install process to your host?
The “Launch” plan is priced $4.89 a month, which is less than a yearly $60, including the domain name. Not bad!
Now, what if you need a very powerful server, or an unlimited amount of sites? Then go for the “pro” plan. It’s priced $10.49 a month and you can host as many sites as you want. Perfect for hosting a myriad of small websites, for example for your clients if you’re a designer or developer. This plan can also be a total bargain for affiliate marketers who need to set up a huge number of mini-sites and landing pages.
InMotion Highlights
There are three factors that should be always taken into account when choosing a web host:
Uptime: Indeed, you want your website to be available all the time for people to check it. I asked them about it, and the company replied that they have a 99.99% uptime on their servers, which is set to increase even further with the introduction of their new HA/Cloud solutions.
Since testing the InMotion plan, I haven’t experienced any downtime on it.
Security: On my recent article about WordPress security, I stated that you can’t expect a secure website on a non-secure server. InMotion Hosting is taking security seriously, and offers CMS updates, SSL, IMAP email, correro for DDOS, as well as large, fleet-wide backups every 4 months.
Speed: Speed is a super important factor to consider when choosing a web host. A bad quality or poorly optimized server will be slow and will consequently ruin the average quality of your site. InMotion Hosting have a pretty good average speed, as demonstrated below:
