How to Create a Cute Gingerbread Man in Adobe Illustrator

What You’ll Be Creating

Character
design is always fun and creative. If you love it as much as I do, then jump into this tutorial and learn how to create a cute
gingerbread man character in vector form.

At
the beginning you will create the body of the gingerbread man, and
then you will create the gingerbread texture using two effects and a
Scatter Brush. After shading and highlighting, your gingerbread man
will look 3D, and after that comes the creative part, where you
will create the face, add the icing and all the decorations.

If
you are interested in other character designs, you can purchase vector characters
over
on Envato Market.

Let’s begin!

1. Start a New Project

Launch
Illustrator
and
go to
File
> New
to
open a blank document. Type a name for your file, set up the
dimensions and then select
Pixels
as
Units
and
RGB
as
Color
Mode
.
Make sure that
Align
New Objects to Pixel Grid
is
not checked.

Next,
go to
Edit
> Preferences > General
and
set the
Keyboard
Increment
to
1
px
and
while there, go to
Units
to
make sure they are set as in the following image. I usually work with
these settings, and they will help you throughout the drawing process.
