My sincere thanks to Stack for sponsoring my writing this week.
Stack: A task manager for Dev Teams.
The tech world is spoilt for choice when it comes to bug trackers and project management systems and traditional tools can be far too complex or slow. Many simpler task-list tools aren’t sufficiently geared towards software development. If you want something for engineers, it’s likely to be complicated and if you’re after something simple, it’s probably going to be for kids managing homework.
A system that’s sufficiently flexible to work they way devs want to work and be able run an entire project end-to-end has often been seen as the holy grail and is a space left unfilled by one tool alone.
You may be familiar with point-and-click bug tracker BugHerd. It simplifies the way that web teams communicate and collect feedback from clients in the QA process. Helpful though BugHerd is for gaining feedback, it’s not actually that great for handling day-to-day development tasks.
So BugHerd have built their own task management system: Stack.
With a robust, developer-centric, task board, Stack provides end-to-end task management. Unlike many generic tools on the market, Stack is specifically designed for delivering digital projects. Whether teams prefer to use Scrum, Kanban or other, Stack is sturdy enough to manage multiple projects.
The boards and columns are fully customisable. Users can add tasks and drag them into columns. Users can also set due dates, assign team members, set priorities, add attachments, create tags for easy searching and create to-do lists within tasks. Comments allow users to collaborate in real time with all members of the team.
Future plans are to include the ability to use milestones, create sprints, manage duplicate and sub tasks, work across multiple projects, do time tracking, estimations and much more.
