News: Free Vuforia iOS Augmented Reality SDK Adds Text Recognition

A couple of weeks ago I mentioned an excellent open source  library for taking a map and annotations and turning that into an augmented reality video view.

I’ve mentioned the free Vuforia SDK from Qualcomm a few times (previously known as the QCAR SDK) for iOS (along with Android and Unity).

Today I received information about a new update that added  some new features including text recognition to its already existing recognition of markers, and other definable targets..

There is an example application demonstrating the text recognition and other new features and the text recognition works pretty well.

You can download the latest version of the Vuforia SDK with text recognition from the home page here.

The sample apps can be downloaded from here.

Definitely worth checking out if you are interested in programming augmented reality apps on the iOS platform.
