Several weeks ago I posted about an example how one could use the iTunes search API and alert users when a new version of their apps are available.
Here’s a library built for the same purpose called Harpy by Art Sabinev. This library takes a slightly different approach and grabs the version and from the iTunes Appstore page rather than using the search API, and allows you to customize the update shown to the users. There’s also some code added to help ensure that the App Store reviewer doesn’t see the update alert.
Here are a couple of images from the readme showing two update images, one for a forced update, and one for an optional update.
You can find Harpy on Github here.
A nice easy to use library for alerting users of updates.
