Safari/Chrome Extension Allows You To Hide/Rename Apple Provisioning Portal App IDs

Working with Apple’s provisioning portal can get tedious and a couple of months ago I mentioned a command line interface that works with the provisioning portal and makes provisioning devices much easier.

One of the quirks of the provisioning portal is that when you create an App ID is that it cannot be deleted or renamed.  While this isn’t a fix for that here’s a Safari and Chrome browser plugin from Simon Whitaker called App ID sanity that you can use to hide specific App ID’s and rename App id’s.

The Google Web Store description for App ID sanity states:

App IDs are “the herpes of iPhone provisioning”. Once you’ve created one, you’re stuck with it for life. You can’t edit it or delete it. By the time I realised this, I had way more than I needed.

App ID Sanity is the cure! It’s a simple browser extension that adds the ability to rename an App ID and mark an App ID as inactive (which hides it from the App ID drop-down when creating a provisioning profile).

If you’re using Safari you can download the extension .

If you’re using Chrome you can get it from the Chrome Web Store here.

The above links are valid as of 1/3/2013.

You can find the source on Github here with links to the latest versions.

A simple plugin that can be a great help if you’ve got a lot of App ID’s clouding your view in the provisioning portal.
