Some time ago I mentioned a free online service for validating in-app purchases securely.
Using a server to validate the in-app purchases is the preferred way of doing things because of the extra security provided, but it is definitely possible to do so, and Apple has even provided an example of this simpler way of validating in-app purchases.
Ray Wenderlich has written a tutorial demonstrating how to validate in-app purchases without a server building on Apple’s example and has written a step-by-step guide taking you through the creation of a consumable in-app purchase validation through receipt validation.
