I’ve mentioned some excellent tutorials on developing 2D games with Unity. Because Unity was not originally created for 2D games these tutorials use some additional libraries.
Today I came across a new framework from Matt Rix known as Futile for creating 2D games with Unity with a syntax similar to that used by the popular iOS game engine Cocos2d.
Included is a simple game demo and here’s a video illustrating Futile’s demo project in action on iOS and other platforms:
You can find the repository for Futile on Github here.
You can find out more about Futile, and find some tutorial videos on getting started on Matt’s site here.
A new framework still under development, but looks like it’s off to a great start.
