Globe components are useful within all kinds of apps, and some time ago I mentioned the open source WhirlyGlobe 3D interactive globe component that provides an interactive 3D globe along with the ability to add overlays to specific areas.
Recently I came across a different type of globe component known as Earth View that allows you to create a full 3D height mapped globe that uses Tile Map Service standard tiles and uses GLKit to render the map.
There were a few major issues when I initially found this library, but it looks like the components creator, Ross Anderson, has already cleared them up.
Included is a sample application in which you can zoom around.

An interesting component – there are a few issues, but with some performance tweaking this could turn out to be a very useful library.
