I’ve mentioned some excellent tools that can ease development of Cocos2D based apps such as SpriteHelper and LevelHelper, PhysicsEditor and TexturePacker, and the TMX tiled map editor iTileMaps.
Today I came across a Mac based tool that allows you to create animations that can be exported to Cocos2D (both the iPhone and Cocos2D-X versions).
What’s really nice about this tool is that you create the animations using a timeline, and the interface is very similar to the Adobe Flash line of tools so if you’ve worked with the Flash timeline editor it should be easy to pick up.
There’s also a free lite version offered that allows you to test, and even export your animations (although a watermark is added until you upgrade to the paid version – currently $19.99).
Here’s a video of the animation editor in action:
The tool is known as ArtPigEditor and can be found on the Mac app store here.
The homepage where you can find documentation and the trial version can be found here.
The tool allows for all the basic image properties to be changed on the timeline (movement, rotation, scale, fading), allows bezier path creations, allows you to insert text, and more.
There are few bugs, but an update has apparently already been submitted – and supposedly the price will be going up soon.
