I need to duplicate functionality of a high school sports website. The current site is goplatteview.com – You can see the basic setup from the front end. This is a current client, so I will be able to provide ftp and admin access to the chosen programmer.
Basically, the original developer of this site made things quite a bit messy – code-wise.
The basics are that the site is database/cms driven – it has some pages, a blog and a calendar – and pages for each sport – the admin can add as many sports as needed. The sport pages are all laid out the same and contain the same information.
I’d like this to be a WordPress plug-in. You will only need to build the sports team functionality as all other required functionality can be handled by existing base code and plug-ins. The plug-in should create XHTML-compliant code with no front-end styling. Tables may be used for tabular data, but not for any other layout.

The plug-in should implement a short-code for ease of putting data into pages. Each sport has levels (varsity, jr varsity etc.) – we keep and make available prior year archives – so I’m expecting short-codes to be able to specify year, sport, and level. [2011-football-varsity] or similar?
You will create a professional-looking admin area with forms to create a new sport, capture the information on roster, picture, coaches, schedule etc… then forms to be able to edit & manage all info for each sport…
Then, the display of the sport should be in a specially designed page template that pulls data from the database and formats with css – so that every sport/level page gets styled the same – without the end user needing to know how to deal with HTML. Your template doesn’t need to do anything but provide unadorned html. We will create a full theme for integration. A new page should be created for the sport/level when created in the database.
Since each sport/level will have its own page, I’ll just plan on using the standard WordPress menu system in the final theme. You don’t need to create something special.
Your ideas on exact implementation are encouraged. Your response to me MUST include evidence of WordPress plug-in development.

I had a developer that failed miserably on this. I’d like to get it done correctly this time, so ONLY bid if you can start right away, already have the expertise (not learn as you go) and can follow through until completion in the time frame you specify.
