We have a database built with Mysql and PHP that needs testing and analysing.
Reason: It is very heavy on server resources, it is unstable and parts do not work, some not at all and some partially. It may be coincidental but the instability and failure elements appear to have multiplied following our transfer of the database to a VPS server, which itself was a move to deal with the resource issues. There is ample memory and storage capacity now.
What is required is an analysis of what exists, what is wrong and what is required to become fully functional and efficient. The whole to be in a comprehensive report detailed by section with the work needed and an estimate of the time required to repair each section. This report will be the basis of a new repair project for which I will seek tenders.
We are where we are and starting again, for the fourth time, is not an option.
The purpose of the database is to provide an online marketing facility to fee paying independent hotels that is hosted on a remote server and accessed via a browser. The whole is to be simple and intuitive for guests, hotel owners and system admins, fast, efficient and ultra-reliable.
For individual hotels: to join the system online, facilitate internet and mobile website building from templates, facilitate content management, to host hotel room inventories, provide online and in house marketing, booking and payment facilities, maintain guest records for communications, billing, CRM and social media, maintain guest review records, generate individual hotel back office reports.
For the system admin: to manage hotel accounts for receipts, payments renewals, invoicing, produce back office reports.
